🎉🎂🎈🎁
Ben Ferencz is 102 today! Let’s send him some special birthday wishes, but more importantly, let’s do something to make the world a better place today. Please share what YOU will do today to advocate for #LawNotWar, #HumanRights, and #Peace. We will share them with Ben.
And finally @NYCParks enjoy this image in the pedestrian lane of Ocean Parkway because you never repainted the no biking 🚳 sign after construction nearly 5 years ago.
#ProtectOPpedestrians
Yes. New York is full of walkers. And many in the pedestrian lanes on Ocean Parkway are in danger of being hit by the zooming bikers who nearly slam into them daily. How many years will it be before @NYCMayorsOffice@NYC_DOT@NYCParks remembers to repaint the no 🚳 signage?
May his memory be for a blessing. And we know the good (hard) work you all do at @RWRNetwork and are so pained that a local lunatic accosted you on Friday while you were simply trying to go about your day. Laws need to change in NYC to protect you while you help others!
Imagine havoc worst landlords + management companies wreak on women/ elderly/vulnerable in residential settings when they think no one is aware. Creating tech tools + advocacy on #residentialharaassment +abuse. DM for info. @adolfocarrion@NYCMayor interagency task force needed.
Residential harassment/abuse needs a comprehensive plan + interagency task force. @AdolfoCarrion would love to see @NYCHousing spearhead it. #residential abuse+ harassment underreported. @RWRNetwork we work w many people experiencing it. Developing tech tool to assist. @rachelcw
In France, performer Josephine Baker found fame and freedom. She felt indebted to her adopted country after fleeing racism in America. At the height of her career, she led a double life. Learn how the toast of Paris became a spyinforming on the Nazis. 📸 LOC #BlackHistoryMonth
@rachelcw Rachel, I am going back to work tomorrow, having had Covid over Christmas. But today, I am going to read my copy of 'Maus'. My husband has his own copy. It was one of the things that pleased me most about his library. We see you. X
@NYCMayor@NYCHA@LincolnRestler Great to see action from @NYCMayor and attentive and present Council member to help residents (wish every district had one). We work w many NYers experiencing residential abuse + harassment through heat and water neglect. Thanks for the positive action! Fyi @RWRNetwork@rachelcw
Loved presenting "The Last Kings of Shanghai" by Jonathan Kaufman to a group of Holocaust survivors who'd never heard about the events happening in China while they were in Eastern Europe. Highly recommend the book. Amazing story of heroism. @RWRNetwork
No the Holocaust wasn’t about man’s inhumanity to man because it did not target all men (and women etc). It targeted specifically and most principally Jewish men and women. The Holocaust was about anti-Jewish racism. It was about very specific antisemitism.
“Poland’s efforts to reframe history reflect a trend proliferating in other European countries to obfuscate the history of the Holocaust,” writes the historian @jgrabows. https://t.co/McNogbhRpU
Yesterday @rachelcw and I did a fun interactive live presentation for a FABULOUS group of #Holocaust survivors. We laughed + created new memories and outlooks. People who've gone through the worst enjoying the day in 2022. #HolocaustMemorialDay@RWRNetwork
