when i came to austin to debut, everybody had the same warning, ‘there’s no scene for a black solo r&b/pop act out here’. no band, no built-in crowd, no pathway. and look, i’ve said publicly that black artists in this city need more visibility and that’s still true. but what i also found? people who look like me who showed up and showed love. there’s people who don’t, who still recognize good music. the scene exists. it just needs US to believe it does and MAKE it happen.🎮
