Only the first season of Quinten Post’s three-year, $30 million offer sheet from
Memphis is guaranteed, per sources. Yet there are ~$1.3M in unlikely incentives each season if Post were to make an All-Defense Team, so that extra money would count against the Warriors’ apron salary regardless of whether Post earns those accolades. Tricky provision Golden State has to consider before matching.
We don’t know the breakdown.
This could be 14/8/8 for all we know. This is also reporting from an agent, which rarely includes that some of that could be bonuses/incentives, team option, etc. cause that stuff isn’t sexy
Post signing might be what I’m lowest on through the Grizzlies offseason so far
His skillset and size is needed but that price tag for 3 years is a bit much
On Post offer sheet: This is rinse/repeat, but I’d caution fans not to assume too much about initial contract reporting. We don’t know structure/incentives/guarantee or non-guarantee details, etc.
@Isaac__NBA Saves you 7 million this year compared to Santis deal and you didn’t have to give up an asset to do it 🤷🏻♂️
Not a huge contract while also being a good tradable number.
Kinda strange, but we’ll see.
I’m fine with the signing. I like that we are making moves (and there will have to be more).
But this man is not young. He’s older than Aldama and Stewart lmao. 🤣
You do if you want to get a quality one that’s in RFA.
Once they traded Aldama they needed another big. It’s either the scrap heap of minimum washed up guys or slightly overpaying for a restricted free agent.
Post is young, with upside, and gettable. And 10 million is pennies on our books right now.
Been seeing a lot of “he’s not that dude” posts about Ced and folks need to chill. It’s overblown.
Even if he’s not SGA, it’s fine. You got shades of OG or Mikal. That’s the exact player we’ve coveted for so long.
Grizz will get more bites at the apple next summer too.
Cam Boozer response on becoming new Grizz centerpiece:
“I think that’s a responsibility that I’ve had my whole career. But the first thing you have to do is show up and show you deserve that.
"That takes work. That takes showing up every day and doing the right things."
This dude just told me “this will be the sorriest team that the Grizz have ever put on the floor” and you got two bigs “who can’t shoot” when Boozer shot 39% from 3 at Duke. If you’ve never seen Boozer play & you’re mad because they traded Ja just say that. The fact that you don’t know ball is showing.
One more Memphis Grizzlies player that really impressed me today: Jamai Mashack. Played a complete two-way game today, showing evolution as an OTD scorer, while bringing his defensive playmaking and motor as always. Pretty intriguing potential back-end rotation guy for MEM.
The Summer Grizzlies have a lot of legit roster guys. Heck, the lineup they started today is better than some of the lineups they started last regular season!
