@R_McKay15 I guess. Kickers are like starting pitchers and they run their routines. He has made more FG’s than any kicker in UT history — I’m not touching that guy and messing with his mojo! LOL!
Sarc jinxed his kicker. Why stop the guy for a long pep talk when he’s walking on the field?! Just pat the guy on the back and send him out to do the job he’s done over and over again his whole career!
I'm all in on giving members of Congress raises. I say $300k for the House and $500k for the Senate. BUT...
They must agree to the following:
Term limits: 6 terms in House and 3 terms in the Senate. That's 30 years of service for the state's best of the best.
Other Income: None allowed and strict boundaries on all investments, not just in the stock market. That's why the pay is so generous.
Age limits: No one may file for an election that will take place on or after their 72nd birthday.
Legal exemptions: Members of Congress must face the same legal and civil consequences as all citizens. They also may not offer themselves or receive benefits of any sort that exceed the equivalent average benefit used by citizens.
Campaign Reform: Lift barriers preventing third and alternative parties from appearing on ballots and receiving federal funds.
What would you change or add?
@williamself08 @ByJoeDavis @6thmannil Trying to work on some options! The challenge is that several of the guys are on the road doing pre-draft workouts and meetings. Thanks for the suggestion!
@EnthusiAdams Thanks Mark. It is certainly a new dynamic that resulted from the dysfunction of the previous business model. Transfer portal is the root of most heartburn and that’s a fair conversation to have about how NIL influences it.. right or wrong. NIL, though, is good for these kids.
I’m having a hard time with the logic. Everyone that we did deals for is on pace to graduate. They still are in class and tutoring. How does monetizing NIL opportunities aside from the athletic dept translate to education not mattering? Both CAN be realized and celebrated!
With NIL realities, the answer is for athletics to be complete seperate entities not associated with universities. Higher education needs to focus on educating. Athletic departments are driven by profits and winning. There is no middle ground. I don't like it, but that is truth.
@CaseyWalkup As you know…. I’m in favor of empowering these student athletes. I also think it’s an issue of fairness. Big schools have always won the big recruits, but NIL can actually level the playing field a touch.
Transfer portal? That’s an entirely different ballgame!
Employees? Student athletes were treated worse than employees. They were products in big business without fair compensation for the value they created. We should be in favor of empowering student athletes to realize their full potential.
NCAA says you can't create "pay for play". All of this NIL is pay for play. Who in their right mind thought this wasn't pay for play from the beginning. This is how the real world works. They are not student athletes anymore. They are employees. Employees get paid to do their job
