@Catbertcat1 @gwizzy12 I think that was more of just how we as a team played as a whole rather than Mayer himself. Braden and Loyer also both made lots of aggressive risky plays because we knew we weren’t as good of a defensive unit.

@gwizzy12 I can agree with that. But I think a lot of fans are forgetting last year when Mayer took over in some games with his high intensity defense and scoring ability. I think the guys ceiling is high and I’m starting to become bias to him because so many are writing him off 😂

@BoilerNorth765 @nickarvinsports Most of the guys that are on the squad are the guys Omer was often on the floor with, cox, gicarri, Jacobsen, Benter, etc. I just believe that Omer if given the reigns is the best choice at leading what’s going to be a less competitive Purdue squad.

@SnarkAndSnare @blakr0b @PurdueBballGuy Legit everybody with a brain and a podcast was saying that Omer should’ve been one and done last year or a lottery pick after this year. Also Ertel is a combo guard so he can play the 1 and 2 hence why I mentioned Cox.

@BoilerNorth765 @nickarvinsports Basically what I’m saying is that there’s no reason to throw Ertel to the wolves as a freshman. We know he’s not gonna win a natty because even Braden couldn’t with this squad. Let Omer have his year where he shows off his nba talent and let Ertel grow behind him.

@blakr0b @PurdueBballGuy Oh yeah, I definitely will. That’s what you hope for a recruit as good as Ertel is. But the way people are talking about Ertel is diminishing the fact that Cox has been a stud for us and will only get better and Omer was legit a projected lottery pick for after this season.

@PurdueApologist Doubt west starts too unless he is really good defensively. Don’t think painter will allow another team like this year where we are too small and incapable of playing perimeter defense.

@PurdueApologist Mayer over Ertel, could see Ertel being a 6th man kinda like Carsen Edwards his freshman year. Being a key piece of the team but doesn’t fit the starting lineup. Once Mayer goes to the NBA he will step in as the 1.

@PurdueApologist Also if DJ puts on a good bit of more weight again this offseason I could see him staying and being the starting guy. Won’t be as good as cluff was but he’d be a much improved rebounder cause of the strength and that would help everything else too.

It’s not a let in terms of we didn’t try, but more we weren’t good enough and let you guys beat us in both the regular season race and game. Poorly worded as emotions were high from winning and don’t think he meant to put yall down.

@cpstalions It’s not whether the ball is off the rim it’s whether it’s above it. Stop complaining about bad officiating on something that was reviewed and called correctly. You barely snuck by penn state with help from the refs and now lost to Wisconsin. Lose with dignity 🤦‍♂️
