I cheated with this photo… On Oct. 6, Mars came the closest in its orbit to Earth. But it was still 38.6 million miles away, so all I could see through my camera was a little dot of red. So I unfocused the lens and it looked a little more planet-like. #nightskyphoto #astronomy

Moon and Mars were next to each other in the sky last night so I learned how to take a 🌙 picture that didn’t look like a blob. 250mm, 100 ISO, f/5, slow shutter. It helps to have a touch screen or remote clicker. Mars was enlarged. Canon EOS Rebel Ti5. #nightskyphotography

@realbridgetnash The part inside the box is enlarged— Mars was so tiny it was almost not visible. I’ll double check for the exact shutter speed, but I remember it being slow...
