@WilliamofKent @SaulStaniforth @ZackPolanski Looking at a tax relief on the difference in cost between the govt building (say they budget £500mil) vs private (say cost was £400mil) giving £100mil in tax free allowance to the super rich person.

Would it work out better as govt can’t piss their money up a wall for a change?

@tag4UK Stick the child benefit into the S&P 500 each month. Kid turns 16, got 2 decent options with the £40k (estimated):

1. Deposit on a house
2. Pay for University

If us parents don’t plan for our kids futures now, they will have no future… BTW theirs will not be in the UK

@DividendDrip Split it between a buy to rent property, the S&P 500 (or similar) Gold and cash savings.

In the future your kids will struggle to buy a home. If you have an extra one to give them, they pay you a rent income tax free.

S&P has been a solid investment since forever.

Use that property as collateral to buy the home you really want and get it on an interest only deal.

When you earn more money and can afford the property, sell the 1st home and start to pay the mortgage off.

I still think a wealth tax would be fairer than an inheritance tax. Major issue with raising additional taxes is that it goes to the govt and who in their right mind trusts them to do anything good with money?
