As an academic writing coach, here are the 7 mistakes I see supervisors and PIs make in the process of co-writing a paper with their PhD students or mentees.
A thread. 🧵

3 days of a really engaging conference: old friends, new friends, lots of ideas and now I just need to have my mind empty for a good while and reconnect with nature *opens twitter*
@PhDgunlugu For the silence people, you could also consider white noise (search Glastonbury Rain) if you need to drown out the annoying people you work with 😉 who have to listen to music to do things
@sophieseid@PhDVoice@AcademicChatter This seems to work better with some collaborative software like Miro but it’s also been fine with people drawing on actual paper and holding it up to the camera later
@sophieseid@PhDVoice@AcademicChatter Having people draw themselves (or their goals or their problems or whatever) can be fun and bonding. I don’t let people use stick figures but maybe that’s cruel...
But what I enjoyed the most is that doing all this was also a lot of fun, being around a truly nice group of people, all moved by the same spirit.
So for all these nice moments, thank you very much guys! 🤗

Wondering if you've done enough this week?
We often forget what we've done and just focus on what we still have to do - the To Do list. Go though your diary and make a list of what you have achieved - a DONE list. This will make you feel better. #PhDForum#MRes#academictwitter
