Bowen Byram has signed a six-year contract with the @NHLBlackhawks!

For everyone upset about the $12.5 million AAV.

The deal actually kicks in next year, 2027-28.

The cap is projected to be at $113.5 million then.

That will make his contract 11% of cap.

For comparison, Thomas Harley's contract kicks in this year at $10.5 million with a $104 million cap (10% of cap)

It's not a shocking contract, even if he is not an elite 1-D.

Thomas Harley plays on the 2nd D-pair.

And I am not comparing Byram to Hughes or Makar, who are much better and will make much more money.

Kyle Davidson did well with the information we have now.

If he doesn't perform, or gets injured or has no chemistry with the team, then any contract is a bad contract.
