AWS is now offering an EC2 instance with 192 vCPUs and 3,072GiB of memory. All that processing power makes my mouth water, even though I have no idea what I'd do with it. Maybe I should host a static web page on it? ๐
Working with GPT-o1 is like the equivalent of searching google and adding "reddit" to the query, then summarizing all the top comments. Really impressive results.
I'm seeing a lot of "make an app with AI" services like Llama Coder. It's awesome for generating the layout of a page or a single component. Beyond that, there's no support for backend APIs or 3rd party libraries. Looking forward to updates.
When building with LLMs, one of the interesting chores you'll need to do is capture token costs. In one day of development, I spent over $20 on gpt-4o. But now I know where to optimize.
The new HTTP "QUERY" method is being proposed as a middle ground between GET and POST. I like it because shoving long query params into the URL always seemed strange and not dev-friendly. Now GET will have a body.
I'm considering switching from Typescript/Golang to Python for personal projects. If development velocity is the priority, then Python beats all. I worried about the lack of typing, but I think that's not an issue nowadays.
This is the kinda stuff that makes it feel like we're actually in the 2020s. The double-fold phones were a gimmick, but the triple-fold actually seems like it could work. HUAWEI Mate XT.
Apple's privacy-first approach to AI soothes my concerns about fully embracing AI with my data, like notes, emails, calendar events, etc. Apple is the only company I trust with my data.
Pleasantly surprised that Claude can generate good looking React components AND render a preview of them for you with state and everything. Claude is killing ChatGPT in usability.
Alright, I'm finally going to switch to Tailwind CSS (coming from Styled Components).
Not necessarily because I like it more, but because there are SO many resources for it that I can just copy and paste. Hopefully it speeds up frontend development.
@bindureddy I do think a lot of folks probably did abandon it, but thatโs a software/content problem. Each major visionOS update brings about new features. One of the most anticipated upcoming features is the ultra-wide virtual display. The AVP becomes more useful over time.
@CFDevelop Itโs a classic argument that <insert strict language/paradigm> is the โbestโ way to solve problems. But in my experience, self-imposed code constraints can solve most problems just fine if you create a minimal framework that enforces those constraints.
Woman nonchalantly shooting a long high tech pistol with futuristic head-mounted optical thingy is justโฆ absolutely badass. Looks like an assassin from the John Wick universe.
So this is essentially an attempt at replicating the 2007 iPhone moment, but for AI accessories. Minimalist approach to design, functionality and marketing.
While I'm not a fan of such devices for privacy and psychological reasons, I'm curious of how well it'll be received.
