As a starting pitcher in my era, you got paid for innings pitched, wins, your ERA, and complete games didn’t hurt at the negotiating table..that is why I was so impressed by Shane Baz’s complete game loss last vs the Rangers..pitched great, efficiently, fielding not so good, and wore the starters badge of honor, a complete game loss.. saved the pen, gave the O’s a chance, and himself , to win in the ninth. Wasn’t looking to the pen for help, just his offense.
