One of the primary jobs of a hospital is infection control and triage- determining who is sick enough to need a higher level of care before things get far worse. They have been tasked with infection control as a primary mission for over 100 years because infection, left untreated kills more people than anything else. They cannot presently do that because they flatly refuse to engage in infection control for ideological- not technical, medical, or logistical reasons.

This is the equivalent of saying, "Don't come to the hospital if you have a staph infection because we refuse to wash our hands or any surfaces because we're tired of doing that". And you're all sitting around saying "well, that kind of makes sense to let my arm go gangrenous, they want to keep it from spreading at the hospital". No, it does not make sense for the places that need to treat infections to be unable to accommodate the infected- that's the stupidest thing ever and hasn't been the case for almost a century. They can absolutely achieve better overall outcomes with infection control and prompt care and always have, they just won't now.

You are being told not to bring your child to the hospital when they have a respiratory infection because those hospitals will not enforce N95 mask mandates and install the same low-cost, highly effective engineering mitigations that have been used against TB and other respiratory illnesses for the past 80 years because of fundamental bad *policy* not medical decisions.

So no, it doesn't "kind of make sense". It is moronic.
