@SecVetAffairs great shot of myself and the under secretary! Very productive conversation on the grassroots level of the VA health system here in #NYC … And, I have love for the Twins (my 1st ballgame, Puckett era), but GOOO YANKEES!! @Yankees@VFWHQ@nycveterans
And even through his personal circumstances and community efforts, Mike managed to light up every room. Whether through offering of a cup of coffee, a joke, or even a simple smile, Mike was a testament to what’s good about people.
Most recently, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, while handling the loss of his longtime wife and going through chemo treatments, Mike still managed to work within the community supporting food pantries and events when they needed it most.
@InvisiblesMuros The stories these people must have, considering many still end up having a long way to go. Makes you think (myself included), the stories and trials of those that eventually settle here around Corona/Jackson Heights.
@MattGallagher0 I think it was Hemingway that said “No subject is terrible if the story is true, the prose clean and honest…”
People need to have an honest conversation about these things. Writing, be it fiction or NF, is supposed to be a tether, not something to shy away from.
@jessicaramos Paul was certainly one of a kind. Getting to know him over the prior years on a more personal level, he cared deeply not only for Queens, and the entire city, but was also a staunch advocate for veterans as well.
This is a devastating loss. Interacting and getting to know @PaValloneNYC over the prior years, knowing who he was at heart, he cared deeply, and worked tirelessly not only for NYC, but for the Veterans Community as well. Deepest sympathies for the Vallone family.
Glad to see my good friend and mentor, Mike Liquori, recognized in the national spotlight. It’s humbling to stand on the shoulders of giants, like Mike, a Korean War combat medic, as his successor of the Flanders Field Post 150 Commander.
Thanks 🙏 @VFWHQ for sharing!
Past Post Commander Mike Liquori received a standing ovation from @Mets fans, friends, family and fellow VFW Post 150 members at an @MLB game in recognition of his military service.

#NYC press corps and, right-wingers, are having a field day with @NYCMayor’s visit down south.
A one-day trip to that region doesn’t paint the full picture, having spent a great deal of time near Urabá recently myself, knowing the economic impact on 🇨🇴. #Colombia
