allergy immunology fellow @TexasChildrens @bcmhouston. Alumnus of @casanova_lab, @RockefellerUniv, @WCMPeds, @uvmcmb, and @2024_HUST. Opinions are my own.
I am proud and honored to be a CPRIT Scholar. My lab will open at @bcmhouston and @TexasChildrens in August 2026.
Please check out what we study: https://t.co/ykaxQIdMvm
We are always excited to work with energetic and motivated trainees.
BREAKING: #CPRIT has approved more than $103 million in new grants for institutions and companies across Texas to strengthen cancer research, expand rural clinical trials and train the next generation of scientists. #TexansConquerCancer

The DRB101:03 association with anti–IL-10 aAbs echoes the DRB115:02/16:02 association seen in NTM disease driven by anti–IFN-γ aAbs.
These parallels are unlikely to be coincidental. Many HLA-associated immune disorders may ultimately be aAbs-driven.
THIS IS THE BEST PAPER OF 2026 SO FAR, A MONUMENTAL BREAKTHROUGH, A REVOLUTION IN THE FIELD OF INFLAMMATORY CONDITIONS:
Interleukin-10 Autoantibodies and HLA-DRB1*01:03 in Inflammatory Bowel Disease | New England Journal of Medicine https://t.co/4fKMgPMd4y
Two Presidents of @BCMhouston! Excited to welcome Jakub Tolar as our new President and CEO! He brings enormous energy and enthusiasm to take BCM into the next era, bringing deep experience leading a learning health system and his own interests in clinical translation of basic discoveries. Also grateful for the 16-year leadership of Paul E Klotman, who brought us through financial challenges, the pandemic, and a changing academic landscape with calm and humor. He modernized medical education, our infrastructure, and bolstered our finances; we grew and evolved. We are in a fantastic position for the future. Hope to be recruiting soon- watch this space!
This curve brought me to tears.
I treated a patient on this trial, and it took his terrible pain away completely within days, which is simply not common.
This represents decades of scientific perseverance and millions of patients who will now live longer and with less pain. 👏🏻
Had an incredible conversation with the virologist and @NobelPrize winner Charles Rice at #INGM in Milan. Truly inspiring to share our project on #TPD of #viruses and engage in such stimulating discussions with such a brilliant scientist!
Our autoimmunity paper is now OA in final form. We found a fascinating landscape of somatic evolution underpinning thyroid autoimmunity, where tens of B cell clones convergently lose immune checkpoints and some acquire 4-6 drivers over years of evolution. https://t.co/KrHKhXA4QS
Today in @NatBiotech, we report the directed evolution of structured RNA motifs that enhance the efficiency of prime editing. Iterated high-throughput pooled screens and mutagenesis of these small RNA elements improved transient pegRNA lifetime.

Must read for immunologists 👇
In this Perspective, @casanova_lab explores 30 years of groundbreaking work showing how monogenic defects and autoimmunity targeting the same immune pathways can converge to cause the same infections.

Amazing paper showing somatic mutations and massive clonal selection for lymphocytes that drive autoimmune disease.
Autoimmune diseases are varied and individually relatively uncommon but as a group highly prevalent. These cause lots of morbidity to very many people, with huge personal, societal, and economic impact. If these findings are extended to other autoimmune conditions, they will have huge implications for treatment.
Lots in this paper - somatic evolution, new tech, old theories, mutations in your favorite genes... The thread is a great TL;DR for the paper.
Go deep and read the cited 2007 Goodnow paper (post#6) - amazingly detailed and prescient- from ~20 years ago!
Excited to share our latest work. Applying advanced single-molecule and single-cell DNA sequencing methods, we uncover an extraordinary landscape of somatic mutations in immune checkpoint genes in autoimmune lymphocytes. [1/n] https://t.co/8kQZ0NWl7X
This is my favorite read for a while. Truly paradigm shifting. This is one of the long held hypotheses that finally made possible by newest technologies. Congrats @imartincorena
2/ This meeting will bring together experts in fundamental human genetics 🧬, immunobiology, translational immunology 💉, and clinical medicine 💊. You won’t want to miss the latest research on how autoantibodies impact infection! See the meeting program for more details 🔍
