PERFECT END TO THE WEEKEND 💯
After diving for the line and ending up third in yesterday’s 1500m final, Emily Mackay leaves no room for doubt in the #USATFoutdoor 5000m final, using a 29.27 final 200m to blow away runner-up Shelby Houlihan and claim her first U.S. outdoor title in 14:55.82.
Houlihan ends up second in 14:57.88 as Parker Valby, who led the first 4600 meters, hangs on for third in 15:06.25.
A good day for our XC teams at the @AmericaEast meet! Both the men and women were 3rd/9 teams. They also posted a combined 4 all-conference selections (Stone, Leitner, Gansrow & Rosenblatt) as well as the Men's Most Outstanding Rookie (Mayclim).

🇺🇸 Team USA's Emily Mackay explains feeling "flat" during the 1500m semifinals. Finished 13th in 4:02.03.
A fast section where 3:57.31 did not advance to the final.
Here's what she said after the race:
“I just felt really flat out there today. I don’t really know what happened. I felt a little bit flat on my warm-up, but I tried not to let it get in my head because sometimes that just happens and everything is fine when you step out onto the track. So I’m not quite sure, but if I had to guess, it’s probably mental and physical exhaustion. I poured so much mentally and physically just getting to this point and it definitely took a toll on me as much I didn’t want it to...
I tried to reframe the Trials as something that was going to prepare me for this experience, with it being three rounds. My first outdoor team, my first Olympic team – so many firsts and so much to be proud of. I told my self I wouldn’t be upset if I didn’t make the final but, obviously, that was my big goal and I thought it was very realistic and I believed in myself so much that I could make it happen. I’m upset but I’m also so proud and have so much to be thankful for.”

It's been an incredible few months following Emily Mackay's journey to the Paris Olympics. We are so proud of all she has done to represent @binghamtonu and @BinghamtonXCTF in a first rate manner. We look forward to watching her accomplish more great things in the future.

This 10,000m race has me glued to the TV.
American almost wiped out mid-race but got back on the horse.
Ethiopians working together, conversing mid-race.
Ugandan asserted dominance with some hand fighting.
The drama is phenomenal.
Oh yeah and the pace is insane.
