The KWS team visited a beef-finishing unit and AD plant this week to explore the many ways maize is adding value on-farm. 🌽

On this farm, forage maize is grown to fuel the AD plant, which processes farm waste, including poultry manure, cattle slurry, and energy crops, to generate renewable electricity and biogas. Maize also plays a key role in cattle nutrition, being clamped on-site and included in rations as a high-energy, high-starch feed to support beef production.

A brilliant example of maize delivering for both sustainable energy and livestock performance.👏

Season #20 begins…🤝

🌾 Stuart Paterson (Craigie Farm, Fife), grew a seed crop of Group 3 KWS Flute for Alexander Harley Seeds last season. The field was the last to be drilled on the farm, going in on 8th Oct after potatoes.

Despite late drilling and a drier-than-average season, the crop yielded 12 t/ha with strong straw output - demonstrating Flute’s versatility.
