And some strict interpretations of Islam forbid costumes, e.g. Al-queda & Taliban. Furthermore, Indians look identical to Pakistani and Pakistan is a Muslim nation.

A few US movies predate it,ie Making Love (1982) was pro-gay,had major stars,a hit song & studio was 20thCenturyFox. The UK had Victim in 1961! Also major stars & studio. Other euro films exist too
