@Jessifer were on Chegg! I trusted them with no time limit and lowered the pressure to cheat. I did oral exams (until it wasn't feasible any more). What's next? How can I both guarantee they are prepared to continue on and trust them?

@Jessifer I agree with this. Proctoring shouldn't be a thing we are concerned about. However, I'd like to know what to do: I gave takehome exams that required more than just a CAS in a Calculus course, and before I could blink, full written explanations of my thought provoking questions

@katiemattaini @MasteryGrading I like that. As long as we stick with EMRN or some other set of qualitative set. Otherwise, we've just changed the from points to a symbolic numbering.

@howie_hua I often (with vague details, FERPA!) pass my tough calls by my wife. She is much more inclined to mercy, and keeps me empathetic. If I didn't have her, I wouldn't be near as good of a teacher.

@matthematician I've struggled with this quite a bit. What alternatives do you suggest? I want to show trust, but even with alternative assessment have been burned by students who feel the "need" to cheat.
