@MyLatinLife For eventual citizenship, are there any hard and fast stay requirements during PR, or is it subjective? (Have heard the gov't is finally approving citizenship applications, but not sure if there's a rule of thumb for time needed on the ground)
The IMI story on this mentions that this type of preventive constitutional review has been invoked "just twice since the Constitutional Court’s 1983 founding. Both instances came from the Social Democratic Party (PSD): a 2005 referendum law and a 2006 regional finance law. Judges declined to rule on either case."
Since it sounds like the Court did nothing in those previous two cases, is it possible that the Court will just ignore this request for review, and not issue a ruling?
@dr_kollmeier@thealepalombo I think some closed-end funds will become open-ended. Have also heard that some funds may hold votes on extending for a year at a time, with those voting no being allowed to leave while the others stay in.
@theportugalpost Not true that current cardholders would be unaffected. Under the latest version, only people with a citizenship application already submitted would be grandfathered into the 5-year timeline; no grandfathering for current Golden Visa residents who haven't applied for citizenship
ChatGPT found one example:
Australia (2007 change): When the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 raised the general residence rule to 4 years lawful stay (incl. 12 months as a PR), the government grandfathered people who already had permanent residence before 1 July 2007. Those PRs could still apply under the old “2 years in the last 5” rule if they lodged by 30 June 2010. This is reflected in official/para-official materials noting the post-2007 rule and that the change applied by PR date; a Victorian government page also distinguishes people who became PRs on or after 1 July 2007 (implying different treatment for earlier PRs).
@jammasternate Ah, nice -- glad there's a close one. Yeah, I don't have a Capital One card, but I think there's either free or discounted coffee for cardholders
@addshore@tele2iot@lightbugio been checking out the Lightbug Zero and it looks great, but just noticed the online store seems to have gone away -- is there any way to order online these days? Many thanks
@MyLatinLife@Chezzarre afaik Bahamas citizens need a visa to visit the US (except travelers leaving by air from Nassau in some special cases), but Bermuda is truly visa free, like Canada
@jammasternate Interesting, bought 30 days of sensors from https://t.co/RqVr9eCEuN but haven't tried them yet. Good to have the backup option from Farmatodo if they don't work out 👍
