@citehchris For a lot of them it's temporary. They get $10-20k worth of new equipment, renovations, new kitchen stuff, then flip back to the old sign and old crowd. I know one place they didn't understand the licensing and took out hookah stuff that they needed, then the bar put it back.

@AlexUsherHESA Also this doesn't show that Queen's went to -$25 million, it seems to be an Operating Budget. If you look at e.g. their 21-22 operating budget you also will see a budgeted net deficit of $40.1 million, and $24 mil in 20-21. That isn't going to match the actual end financials.

@AlexUsherHESA There's also an unrestricted surplus/deficit that forms part of Net Assets on the Balance Sheet. When people are talking about going from a surplus to a deficit they often mean that the balance has gone from e.g. $100 mil to -$25 mil which isn't the case here.

@profsamperry Yes, met and connected with scholars at ASAC which led to collaborations and publications. I also met people who reached out to me when a position opened up in their faculty. But most of all was meaningful direct feedback on my work including from established scholars.
