That wraps up our 10 a.m. #COMM410@X class. I hope it was useful. See you in person Friday. Lets do some good work on social media to get some content views this week!!!! Like this tweet (always) to check out for the day!
#COMM410 If you are using Twitter for class, make sure you always tag people and have at least two hashtags per post and this may surprise you, but tweets with images do better than those without!!!
#COMM410 Musk bought Twitter for $44 Billion in 2022. That was only after he tried to back out and was sued to complete the purchase. Laid off about half the company and reinstated banned accounts. Ad revenue fell sharply as many companies withdrew their ads on the platform.
#COMM410, I used to love it for the content marketing assignment, and require its use. No longer. However, it can be great for marketing because its public by nature, searchable by topic (hashtag) has a younger demographic and you can connect with experts.
#COMM410 As of July of 2023, the platform is now known as X. Although I find it funny when so many things say X (Formerly Twitter). Tweets became posts with the change. Retweets became reposts.
#COMM410, Most social media companies are publicly businesses, so we can’t ignore the $$ @X finally turned a profit in 2018. Right after they launched live video 2017. RIP Vine. But they lost money in 2022 and 2023.
Verified accounts can see up to 10,000, while unverified accounts can see up to 1,000 tweets and new unverified accounts can see up to 500 per day. #COMM410, why do I keep ating @X on these tweets?
The average @X user has 707 followers, but millions have no followers at all. In 2019 Twitter thought that 48 million of its active accounts were bots. I can't find any more recent numbers of how many bots are left. #COMM410
