PhD candidate @UWMadisonMDTP | Shelby O’Connor lab | interested in HIV and TB pathogen dynamics during co-infection (and dogs, mostly dogs). Views are my own.
@nicocoer For the last few years of my paternal grandmother’s life we kept her mini fridge stocked with pudding and beer, and her holiday meals were typically a Guinness and some cake. She ate her vegetables all her life. Once you hit your 80s, eat whatever you want.
@thebirdmaniac I worked with yeast and DNA for YEARS and let me tell you… it was hard switching to the finicky model of RNA. I work with SIV (monkey hiv) now, but it was a rough transition.
My new preprint is live! In collaboration with @C_Scanga and his lab at the University of Pittsburgh, we examined the relationship between peripheral viral control and bacterial burden in SIV/TB co-infected macaques.

@DrPayItBack I was a very small child, so my mom would often safety pin my clothes so they would fit. It made for a very interesting X-ray when I got kicked by a horse around age 8 and the medical staff asked if I had swallowed something.
@OdedRechavi I cheered for a year at UW-Madison, where I’m now getting my PhD. I’ve since switched to running, but I’ll always be a cheerleader at heart.
This has always been real. Recognize the people who understood this and worked to help. Recognize those who adapted to help our youth. Recognize that we only get through this together.
I’ve seen lots of politicians getting their first dose of the vaccine this week. Lots of them actively called this virus a hoax and downplayed it. If it was such a hoax, shouldn’t others get itt first? Doctors and nurses? Teachers? Those in long term care facilities?
