@chrismcinnis This is another great insight - this would also be a great location to present this information. I'll see what I can do to get it in there
@philihp Not bugged, but the rule is worded confusing and its planned on being changed. Essentially, all buildings must be touching land and touching a water tile. Otherwise, that's where you'll receive the negative points. I hope that clarifies!
I’m excited to share that Square Valley is a finalist in the Google Play #IndieGamesFestival 2022! It’s been a humbling journey so far, can’t wait to see what happens next!

@TheFaerieKinge Hi, great catch on the Wheat Fields - those should be 2pts. The original intention of "at the base" is only those below plateau but this led to confusion. It should be counting all sides now :) Thanks for playing and reaching out!
@ikkleste Great finds, thanks for the screenshots! Two issues you found are definitely bugs: 1. It's missing the negative point text, 2. It's currently scoring as "for each empty or occupied tile within walls" - this does not match the text, 3. I will change text to touching "outer wall".
@tgshepherdvan Great suggestion! I'll make a note to add some clarifications on some more complicated terminologies like 'cluster'. To answer the question, nothing "should" break up a cluster. I just discovered the "Wheat Fields" are the one exception to this rule. I will fix it :)
@tgshepherdvan I do agree it's quite hard and there have been a few adjustments to try and make it a bit easier. Like "Mine" is no longer considered a building and the positive Jewelry Shop points outweigh the negative. But it's definitely doable 😄
@tgshepherdvan Water tile is referring to the water tiles created with lake shores. The lake shore can share the same edge as a plateau so, for example, it is possible (recommended for all buildings on this level) to have a building on a plateau and also touching a water tile.
@tgshepherdvan Glad you're enjoying it! In this example you met the requirements (all wild plants are enclosed), but it didn't score because there weren't enough wild trees in the river enclosing. It requires 10 or more wild trees and there are only 9. This text is being updated for clarity 🙂
@stevemanbarrera Well done - it looks almost pre-planned it's so elegant! I've got some sketches and ideas for a Chapter 4, no promises on when it will be ready though 🙂
@Cephalofair I guess if I was trolling it'd be a better excuse right😅? Rule clarifications are what I'm actively working on addressing at this time. I'm glad it's still enjoyable with its glaring flaws 😄
@DenholmFraser I've also played this a bunch before bed and I can see the appeal for a dark mode. Unfortunately, it currently doesn't have a dark mode. This is a feature I can look into adding, but probably won't come that soon.
Latest Square Valley update out now includes some fixes for Trout, Jewelry Shop and more! And if you missed the last update, there's also now auto-progress saving, undo, and skip options. Enjoy!
@nigelwhiteoak Yep! Just verified in code. I need to update this to "wild trees". Great catch! I also need to audit all the places I use "tree" - might be a few more of these. Thanks for calling it out!
