On August 17, 2026, Lindsey Austen in Richmond, Texas, received her first Amazon Prime Air drone delivery .. the Amazon drone hovered over her backyard pool and dropped the package (dry cat food and shoe insoles) straight into the pool! Lol 😝

Austen stated she never actually selected the drone option.. Amazon automatically routed the delivery via the drone. Clearly Austen was not happy!

Amazon described such incidents as extremely rare, noted the company learns from these incidents to improve the system, and pointed to its A-to-z Guarantee for refunds or replacements etc, while evidence points to a mapping, assignment, or autonomous navigation shortcoming rather than customer error.
