Iowa has announced that Brandon Sorensen has been named the Hawkeye Wrestling Club Head Coach.
While they didn't make mention of whether Daniel Dennis was out, that's the position he had been filling.
The HWC also announced the signings of Michael Caliendo, Patrick Kennedy, Dean Peterson, and Crew Howard.
In another development, former University of Iowa standout Brandon Sorensen has been named head coach of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Sorensen was a 4x AA under Tom Brands, wrestling for the Hawks from 2013-18.
Last weekend at the NCAA’s, the Hawkeye lineup featured four Iowa high school graduates and all four ended the tournament on the podium.
133: Drake Ayala (Fort Dodge) - 5th
149: Ryder Block (Waverly-Shell Rock) - 6th
197: Gabe Arnold (IC High) - 7th
285: Ben Kueter (IC High) - 5th
Gonna say something that is probably going tick a few people off & I'm ok with that. I don't know if the answers @Hawks_Wrestling is looking for are "out there" somewhere.
I think sometimes the answers you seek are already right where you stand.
Block & Arnold prove that
Man I’m proud of this team. While we always aim for team titles, we had 7 All- Americans. Our guys fought their tails off. More importantly this team stayed resilient, blocked out the noise, and kept showing up to compete. Gonna miss the seniors and thankful I could help at all.
Leo Block with a fall in the first round of Class 2A 📌
Leo is the younger brother of Iowa Hawkeye Ryder Block, and only started wrestling three years ago (seventh grade). Awesome moment for him.
