we live in age of great moral panics about things that don’t matter and zero moral outrage over some of the most egregious societal sins we’ve ever seen
sorry for harping on this but the problem of “knowing what you want to say but not how to say it” often means you haven’t yet figured out what you want to say. if you turn to an LLM to help organize loose thoughts into prose, you’re outsourcing your cognition to a machine
Eventually people will realize that flexing the grind only appeals to other insufferable strivers
Your primary goal should be to make it appear like you don’t even work at all
There’s a sweet spot between living life with focus / intensity but not taking everything so seriously
have fun
stay lighthearted
don’t get sucked up into the grind culture so prevalent online
they're unhinged. normies live their lives trying to not get noticed and follow the rules, so they get a normie outcome. the guys who are really winning are a little bit insane. they'll walk into a meeting and say what everyone else is thinking but is too scared to say. they'll make a deal that no one else would have the balls to make. they're not constrained by the fear of looking like an idiot. normies will fold first, every time, because their greatest fear is social disapproval. successful people understand that social disapproval is a tax on success.
The myth of recreational substances for “stress reduction.”
Physiologically speaking, common and even appropriate legal substance use (alcohol, cannabis) is a NET NEGATIVE for stress.
Both cause a stress response in the body, not a stress reduction.
You claim your life is in shambles but you have no routine, your room is a mess, you only getting 4 hours of sleep, you don’t call or hang out with people, you eat one meal a day, you sit in the dark all day and night…what do you expect
- utilize a restrictive diet to alleviate certain symptoms aka a tailored elimination diet which is a reasonable strategy that’s been around forever
- come up with bombastic claims and market yourself aggressively
- gain prominence over it
- shift back to center after you realize chronic dietary restrictions of health promoting foods doesn’t make sense
- essentially now give the old adage of a well-rounded diet of nutrient dense foods that work for you
- you have fed both the ego and your bank account so the deed is done
the cycle continues 🔄
. @patagonia latest ad spread, apparently ran in NY Times. Images via @michaelmiraflor. Seems to be having mixed reviews
I personally like this! They true to the game. Their business is performance and technical gear. Lean into it, especially now when every upstart athletic brand is trying to be a fashion brand.
This wasn’t done for the sake of LinkedIn etc imo, it feels more like a stake in the ground cause they see all the bullshit going down in the industry
Anybody who has a cursory understanding of Patagonia knows they have a very specific mission
If they naturally trickle into fashion, let it happen, but at least they real it’s not the goal.
Alot of these other brands try to force “cool.” It’s tiring
