someone’s inability to understand how their actions (intentional or not) made you feel, is enough for me to know the emotional intelligence is not in the room w/ us
My therapist said, “Do you realize that you’ve asked me if this makes sense over 25 times? I don’t know who has told you that it’s your job to take responsibility for every time someone misunderstands you, but it’s not. It’s on them to clarify if they don’t understand.”
Stop overthinking why people did you wrong, they did it & they meant it. Move on. It's unfair to yourself to keep trying to justify why you're holding on to toxicity. There are lessons in letting go. You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
A big part of executive dysfunction is not having control over what tasks our brains focus on or for how long.
Sometimes it's struggling to get started, sometimes it's not being able to stop, and other times it's not completing the task before our brains gives up on it
