@jeffbrews I haven’t seen this survey anywhere on social media but was just at the Parks Dept Earth Day event and there was a QR code:

Can share thoughts on pedestrian/bike (lack of) safety!
@jeffbrews Is it clear what is going on with the parking lot? On Nextdoor folks seem to be just as sad that a parking lot is gone, as they are that an actual destination is closed… smh

@jeffbrews Agreed very cool! What’s with all the signs for no bikes, though? Was there an accident or something? I assume bikes can go on the street where cars cris-cross the walkable areas…
@jeffbrews@D_Pletcher Yup the U.S. Census has an enormous combined statistical area (CSA) for LA-Long Beach.

Also interesting that Leisure Village is shown separately from Camarillo.
@Schmidt4D3 Bumpiness? Like potholes and cracks? Or issues with the sidewalk? Policymakers need to understand that pedestrian safety is important part of daily life especially for the most vulnerable (who either can’t drive, can’t afford a car, or had a car break down and need alternatives)
@Sylviebelmond @D_Pletcher @trill_mickelson +1 to this question. Is sidewalk biking legal due to a city ordinance, county ordinances or what? I’m thinking about Camarillo.
@D_Pletcher@ASM_Irwin@BenAllenCA That last paragraph is perfect. The rest of it leaves a lot to be desired. There is no reason to believe the “Short-Term Improvements” (which all amount to paint and signs) would have prevented these tragic deaths. One thing could have: bollards.
@KyleBJorrey Very sad to see local news declining further. Seems like the online calendar has been broken since the new ownership took over. Says it’s updated today but only shows events from October :-(

@CamarilloAcorn@ScottSteepleton According to Nextdoor, the person on a bike broke their leg… wondering if that is still defined as a minor injury… Seems like In addition to confirming who hit who, it would be great for @CamarilloAcorn to confirm injuries.

@TrentSiggard@CamarilloAcorn@ScottSteepleton It looks that way. We are speculating but the curb radius in that area is very wide so cars can take the turn at higher speeds. Right turns on red are also a problem with the design of the road since most drive through the crosswalk and into the road to look for an opening.
@TrentSiggard@CamarilloAcorn@ScottSteepleton Agreed, but I’ll add a thank you @CamarilloAcorn for covering car/bike/pedestrian crashes, which seem to be on an uptick locally. Also @ScottSteepleton may have just been repeating what the dispatch or police report says, since they are often rushed moving to the next emergency
@JasonD9911@Mikey_Tay1or Norway is one of the most generous national governments in the world, contributing 1.09% of its Gross National Income (GNI) to foreign assistance. The U.S. contributes 0.19%. Most of the U.S.’s money goes to U.S. charities and companies doing work abroad.

@JasonD9911@Mikey_Tay1or I agree with your overall point but on the money going to other countries, the media does a terrible job covering foreign aid. As a result most of the country believes foreign aid is ~25% of the budget. In reality, it is less than 1%.

@jeffbrews@OldTownCam Were the city-wide responses dramatically different? It sounds like the question should be about scaling up street dining and parklets, not shutting them down.
@mirijulip Why aren’t we talking about bollards? Seems doubtful that enforcement approaches would reduce crashes which impact vulnerable pedestrians like the recent tragedy…
