idols are human beings and deserve to have their own privacy!! people love to preach this but then leech off stalker behaviour videos because it benefits them. what has been spread today is very obviously not official content and ppl using it for their own joy is honestly weird
I’ve been wanting to write this since yesterday and I’m sorry if it’s a little long, but it’s something I really wanted to share.
Yesterday, when Taeyang played JANNABI’s “뜨거운 여름밤은 가고 남은 건 볼품없지만” during the radio show, I got a little emotional (the english title is simply “Summer,” but I feel like so much of the poetry and meaning of the original title gets lost in English it literally translates to “The hot summer nights are gone, and what remains isn’t much to look at”)
I know he probably chose it because it’s a song about summer, but the moment I saw his choice I immediately thought about something he has said so many times before.
Taeyang often talks about the importance of living in the moment being aware of what you’re feeling while you’re experiencing it and holding onto those emotions so that one day you can look back and remember that moment for what it truly felt like.
“Summer” is essentially a song about a break up and at first it looks at what little is left behind after giving everything you had to someone who eventually walked away. And I think the contrast at the heart of the song is so beautiful: the hot summer nights represent something that was once intense, vivid and full of life, while what remains after that summer is over seems small, faded and almost insignificant in comparison. The warmth is gone, the moment has passed, and you’re left looking at what’s left of something that once felt enormous.
But as the song goes on, it becomes much more about the memories and emotions that remain. Even while moving forward and leaving room for something new, those feelings aren’t something that should simply be forgotten. They are worth holding onto because, in a way, they preserve the memory of a moment in your life when you know you gave everything you had to something.
The beautiful moments, the longing and even the painful ones slowly become part of that memory. There’s this beautiful idea of keeping those feelings exactly as they were and allowing time to soften them until even the things that once hurt can eventually bloom into something beautiful. The summer may be gone, but what you felt while living through it doesn’t disappear with it, knowing how often Taeyang talks about memories this way, I couldn’t help thinking about it yesterday.
It felt so fitting that, even while simply choosing a song about summer, he picked one that somehow reflects something he has shared with us so many times: live the moment fully, remember how it made you feel, and let that feeling become part of the memory you carry with you 💙
