It’s been almost three years since AI art first exploded online. At the beginning, it felt like a joke or a meme. But as more people used it, the technology improved at a pace none of us expected.

For a long time, I avoided using AI. I didn’t support it, I didn’t like it, and even when people encouraged me to use it “just to speed up rendering,” or to train my own model on my artwork, it never sat right with me.

But about two months ago, out of curiosity, I did try making my own LoRA based on my illustrations. I wanted to see for myself. And what I learned was important:
Even if the LoRA is trained only on my over 200 high quality illustrations, it can’t create art on its own or generate more arts bases on my current art resources. It isn’t a creative engine, it’s just a filter or tunnel of my style.
To generate new images, it depends on the base model underneath, and that base model was trained on millions of images from many artists, often without consent. 🙅‍♀️

So even if my LoRA itself uses my works, the system supporting it is still built on unlicensed data. That realization made me uncomfortable.
After understanding the truth behind how these models function, I deleted my LoRA and went back to drawing by hand. I would rather create slowly and imperfectly than rely on a system built on other people’s labor or trick myself into believing “it’s just a tool” when the foundation of that tool is ethically complicated.

I choose to draw every day, even if it takes longer. At least what I create is authentically mine.

Also, for artists, I recommend you all to include this in your ToS or in folders when you send the final drawing to your client. A lot of people are still not aware about the genAI issue.

If you don't have Nightshade, Glazing on WebGlaze would still do the job.
