Japan may have found one of the smartest Starlink use cases yet 🇯🇵
Fire Hydrant Sign Co. just ran a tech demo using Starlink equipment mounted on fire hydrant sign poles to create local Wi-Fi access
The idea is so brilliant:
Japan already has around 120,000 of these signs across residential areas, shopping streets and major roads
No new towers or no special land needed
Just infrastructure already sitting in the places people live
During earthquakes, typhoons, blackouts or network outages, these poles could become emergency internet points
From signs that show people where water is…
To signs that help people stay connected when communication fails
This is exactly the kind of disaster infrastructure that makes sense
