Delighted that my paper on Fixed Book Price across Europe is now out at JCLE (open access): https://t.co/AMK1A7iCG2
I use cross-country variation in the European book market to see the effects of Fixed Book Prices which often mimic Resale Price Maintenance policies.
We are delighted to launch the third edition of the @KingsELab Essay Competition, run by @rys_williams. The purpose of the competition is to encourage UK-based students to pursue #entrepreneurial aspirations & better understand how to launch an #enterprise https://t.co/43hSXXCfy1
Our Annual #Entrepreneurship Essay Competition serves to foster #entrepreneurial mindsets in young students and to encourage them to engage with #innovative thinking: https://t.co/X4o3LajcDX. This year we welcomed over 200 entries from across 130 schools and asked the students to grapple with important questions facing those interested in entrepreneurship today.
In this #Mindsets piece, our @KingsELab Senior Associate @rys_williams explains the value of the competition, the themes of this year’s essay questions, and the strategies employed by our three winners.
#Mindsets is the weekly @KingsELab blog series edited by our Senior E-Lab Associate Sophie Harbour (@Dept_of_POLIS & @MECCambridge) and published online by @rys_williams (@Kings_College & @CambridgeJBS).
@Cambridge_Uni
@KingsELab@CambridgeJBS Great event! Lots of insights from Gee on how Europe can improve its productivity, particularly by expanding market size through reducing intra-Europe barriers to trade
First day of interviewing prospective #economics candidates at the @Cambridge_Uni, together with the wonderful Elisa Faraglia, @BasihosSeda, and @rys_williams, and where better to do it than John Maynard #Keynes' old set (where he lived and worked at @Kings_College) and with a magnificent mural by Duncan Grant painted for Keynes in the background! Look forward to seeing more candidates tomorrow.
Great to catch up with @rys_williams today discussing interviews for next week. We are looking forward to meeting our undergraduate @Cambridge_Uni applicants in #economics!
Remember:
(1) take your time to answer questions
(2) if you don’t understand a question, ask for clarification
(3) we are not looking to trick you
(4) we want to help you to show your full potential.

What an amazingly insightful and thought provoking participatory workshop at @KingsELab on the #AI revolution, and what it could mean for all of us (#socially and #politically) with the award-winning (including a @BAFTA, an #Emmy and eleven @TheWebbyAwards!!!) interactive film director @MartinPercy and alumnus of @Kings_College! Look forward to having Martin back at the @Cambridge_Uni for many more sessions 😀
At the E-Lab we always give books to the best questions from the audience and this time I had the pleasure of picking the books with Martin from our fabulous @Waterstones in Cambridge!
Thanks @rys_williams for organising and Eva Lemmy and Benjamin Warner for the interesting post-workshop discussion.
@CambridgeJBS
HUGE congrats to Emily Ennis from @LRGSLancaster for winning the #UK wide @KingsELab#Entrepreneurship Essay Competition!! 🥳 🎊 🥳
And also Big BIG congrats to Maxim Cartledge from @Tiffin_School and Keon Robert from Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet for being runner ups! 🥳 🎉 🥳
It was lovely having Emily, Maxim, and Keon and their families visiting us at @Kings_College this weekend.
We can't wait to publish their essays as part of our #Mindsets series: https://t.co/pbf9C7pRsH over the next few months.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage UK Sixth Form students to pursue #entrepreneurial aspirations and understand better how to launch an #enterprise. We are particularly keen to foster this entrepreneurial spirit among students who might not traditionally consider entering the world of #business and further hope this competition encourages more young people, who might not think about it, to apply to #Oxbridge and Higher Education. Please do help us spread the word, more details here: https://t.co/pbf9C7pRsH
The competition is run by our amazing Senior Associate @rys_williams (@CambridgeJBS) with the help of @thomroulet, @KateHerrity, Sophie Harbour, @MIBoddington, @newt_cc, Nadia Radzman, Ismail Sami, Siiri Ruuhela, Zarja Hude and many many more!

What an amazing evening at @Kings_College with @CamEcon and @CambridgeJBS students and alumni (including cohorts from 1960s!). Lovely to catch up with so many brilliant old students, and pleasure to see the legendary Mervyn King back at King’s again!
