ACL reconstruction and Fetty Wap just make sense 😅🎶
A little inside-the-knee view mixed with the behind-the-scenes angle of what’s actually happening during surgery. A lot going on at once, a lot of moving parts, and a whole team working together to get it done right.
Somehow the OR playlist always matches the vibe.

Caption this 👀😅
Wrong answers only.
(But if your caption includes “my knee has been hurting for 6 months and I finally decided to come in,” then this is your sign to quit putting it off and come see us 😂)

Getting a closer look in clinic 👀
X-rays are a huge part of helping us understand what’s going on beneath the surface, but the important part is walking through them together with the patient. We review the images, talk through symptoms, compare findings to the exam, and build a game plan that makes sense for each individual patient.

Proud to call this place home 🏠
Having our own ASC right here in Oxford, MS allows us to continue providing specialized orthopedic and sports medicine care to the community we care so much about. From clinic visits to surgery days, this building represents a full team effort and a shared commitment to taking care of patients the right way.
Grateful for the opportunity to work alongside great surgeons, incredible staff, and a community that continues to trust us with their care every single day!

A look inside an arthroscopic biceps tenodesis with intra-articular fixation 👀
When the biceps tendon becomes damaged, unstable, or contributes to shoulder pain, a tenodesis allows us to reposition and secure the tendon to help restore function and relieve pain. In this case, fixation is performed intra-articularly, allowing us to address the tendon directly within the joint using arthroscopic techniques.
Small instruments, precise fixation, and a lot of attention to detail - all focused on getting patients back to moving comfortably again.

A little behind the scenes before the clinic visit
There’s a lot more that goes into patient care than just the few minutes you see in the exam room or the time spent in surgery. Before I walk into every room, I’m reviewing notes, imaging, surgery details, rehab progress, and thinking through the best next steps for each patient individually.
And yes… sometimes my notes sound like complete gibberish to everyone else 😅 but somehow my translator and I know exactly what’s going on.
Controlled chaos, lots of shorthand, and always focused on getting patients moving in the right direction!

Not every UCL injury automatically means surgery 💪
In this case, we’re talking through the nonoperative management of a UCL strain and what the throwing progression looks like moving forward. A big part of recovery is following the program closely, listening to symptoms, and making sure we don’t ramp things up too quickly and re-aggravate the ligament.
That’s why communication between our team, physical therapists, athletic trainers, coaches, and the athlete is so important. Everyone has to stay on the same page to give these athletes the best chance to heal and safely return to throwing.
Recovery is a process and patience matters.

A closer look at an ACL reconstruction
Here we’re removing the remaining ACL stump and performing a notchplasty to improve visualization and create the ideal space for our femoral tunnel. Tunnel placement is one of the most important parts of the procedure, we want it high and back in the native ACL footprint to help create a strong, isometric graft that restores stability and knee mechanics the right way.
Small details during surgery can make a big difference in long-term success, and every step is focused on setting patients up for the best possible recovery.

Another look at prepping a distal tibia allograft for an arthroscopic anterior glenoid reconstruction.
When patients have recurrent shoulder instability or repeated dislocations, they can begin losing bone along the front of the shoulder socket. Once that bone loss becomes significant, simply repairing the labrum often isn’t enough — the shoulder needs that bony support restored to regain stability.
That’s where this graft comes in. Every measurement, cut, and contouring step matters when preparing the graft to match the patient’s anatomy and rebuild the glenoid surface as accurately as possible.
Complex cases like this are all about precision, planning, and restoring confidence in the shoulder again.

POV: me and Karli talking in clinic and somehow fully understanding each other while sounding like absolute gibberish to everyone else 😅
Clinic days move fast, and somewhere along the way your team develops its own language. Half sentences, random hand motions, skipping words… somehow it all gets translated into keeping the day running smoothly and patients taken care of.
Controlled chaos at its finest.

From scrubbing in to rolling into recovery - a full surgery day.
There’s a lot more that goes into these cases than what people see during the surgery itself. Prepping the room, sterile setup, graft prep, tunnel placement, fixation, closure, recovery, post-op instructions - every step takes a team working together and staying locked in.
Days like these are a reminder that great patient care is never a one-person job. Grateful for the crew that shows up every day to help keep things moving and help patients get back on their feet stronger and more confident.

Keeping families updated after surgery is one of the most important parts of the day. 📞
Once surgery is finished, I call and walk them through how everything went, what we found, and let them know their loved one is headed to recovery. Then someone from our team will come bring them back once they’re waking up and getting settled in post-op.
Meanwhile my staff is somewhere in the background reminding me we do, in fact, have a schedule to keep 😅
A lot of moving parts on surgery days but making sure patients and families feel informed and taken care of will always matter.

A look inside an arthroscopic biceps tenodesis.
This procedure is commonly performed when the biceps tendon becomes irritated, unstable, or damaged and starts contributing to shoulder pain. During surgery, the tendon is released from its original attachment and secured into a new position to help relieve pain and improve function.
Done arthroscopically, it allows us to address the problem with smaller incisions and less disruption to surrounding tissue - all with the goal of getting patients back to moving comfortably again.

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend - it’s a time to reflect on the courage, service, and selflessness of those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy every day.
We are forever grateful for those who served and the families who continue to carry their legacy. 🇺🇸

A quick reminder that our offices will be closed Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

Another look inside a pretty complex shoulder case.
This patient sustained a posterior shoulder dislocation that resulted in a large reverse Hill-Sachs lesion - essentially a significant defect in the humeral head caused when the shoulder dislocated. Injuries like this can lead to ongoing instability, pain, and recurrent dislocations if not properly addressed.
For this case, we performed a humeral head osteochondral allograft procedure to restore the damaged bone and cartilage surface and help recreate a stable, functional shoulder joint.
Cases like these take planning, precision, and a full team effort - all with the goal of helping patients regain stability and get back to using their shoulder confidently again.

My horror movies 😝
Some of these keep orthopedic surgeons up at night… and some are just personal problems. If you know, you know.
The “turkey that doesn’t gobble” crowd especially gets it 👀🦃

Something about scrubbing in, getting gowned up, and getting ready for surgery with AC/DC playing just feels right 😅
Before every case, there’s preparation - hand washing, sterile setup, final checks, and a full team getting locked in and ready to go. Different surgeries every day, but the goal never changes: take care of patients and get them back moving the right way.
Little pre-op concert never hurt either ⚡️
