The Baltimore County union representing over 9,000 teachers approved a motion to instate work-to-rule, walk-ins and walkouts during its ongoing compensation negotiations with the school district.
The Teachers Association of Baltimore County announced in a news release Thursday that its school representatives approved the labor actions intended to show solidarity the day before. TABCO held rallies throughout the county Tuesday in support of its three-year negotiated compensation agreement with Baltimore County Public Schools. Charles “Charley” J. Scalies Jr., best known for his role as Thomas “Horseface” Pakusa on HBO’s “The Wire,” died Thursday after battling Alzheimer’s disease. Scalies, 84, was a sales executive at a precision manufacturing firm and had his own consulting business before his roles in “The Wire,” “The Sopranos” and Baltimore native Barry Levinson’s “Liberty Heights,” according to the obituary posted by Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home. Horseface is a union cargo checker in the second season of “The Wire,” which centers on Baltimore’s ports.
