What you're driving is more important than where you're going. For me that's mostly Hondas. Tech Manager, Soccer Ref, Indycar, IMSA, F1. Recovering sportswriter
@indycarpodcast 1) A team or teams change manufacturers. 2) Honda starts its Factory program a year early by taking control of the 60 program. 3) Honda buys out Palou’s contract and makes him their Factory Driver. 4) Honda buys out Kirkwood’s contract as in (3). Lundgaard leaves McLaren.
@indycarpodcast Are either of you slackers packing up for a road trip to “America’s National Park of Speed”? If not now, when? If you consider yourself an Indycar fan, you must make the pilgrimage! Why not this weekend?
@indycarpodcast Each oem commits two 2 engines per service provider. It’s any “Easy” button for up to four Indy only entries that lack chassis and/or personnel. Entrant just provides funding and driver. What’s not to like?
@indycarpodcast if you want to make it easy for Indy-only entries, you have Indycar and the oems authorize two Indy NXT teams as Indy 500 service providers. One for Chevy and one for Honda. Someone like Cusick hires a driver and a Service provider and they are set. /1
@indycarpodcast So you would take a have Indycar run a TMS doubleheader and kill the most successful new event on the Indycar schedule (Arlington)? Shirley, You can’t have both when they are 30 miles apart!
@indycarpodcast Indy-only teams who file entries with a $3 million check per car (escrow for race expenses like car & engine) by Feb 15 gets an entry. If the team can’t close on a car and engine on its own by March 15, Indycar would assign them a car and engine. Can we do that?
.
@indycarpodcast I agree with Marshall Pruitt when he says that in order to have bumping, you need entries. And in order to get entries, you need a “system” for enabling Indy-only entries. So here is my idea: /1
Here’s the exact moment that police found cocaine on Steve Witkoff’s son Zach Witkoff, who also happens to be Donald Trump JR’s best friend as well as CEO of their crypto scheme partnership World Liberty Financial.
Note that Steve Whitkoff is the top negotiator with Iran right now.
I’m leaving the Capitol at 4am after Republicans rammed through a vote paving a path for $70B to fund ICE for years without any reforms/accountability. They rejected all Dem proposals to lower your healthcare costs, housing, and gas prices. Spread the word. We need to stop this.
@indycarpodcast If there is ever a return to Bumping, it should be accompanied by a new tradition: The Owner of each car bumped must set $1 million on fire at the yard of bricks. Are you with me?
@indycarpodcast In my experience, the most zealous advocates of bumping live within a couple hours’ drive of IMS. The farther away from IMS, the less of an issue it is.
@indycarpodcast Correction department: my understanding is teams use the early week Indy 500 for race prep, particularly traffic. They don’t work on “time trials” until late Thursday or Friday.
@indycarpodcast IMS sets a standard: Like complete 100 laps with 2 pit stops in a specified time. Say 107% of the field average for 100 green laps and two pit stops the previous year. Interested cars show up at IMS the week before the GP. They achieve the standard, they can compete. Do that!
@indycarpodcast I was pulled into the 500 by Innovation. Specifically the turbine car. Why don’t we bring Innovation back? I have a suggestion: Initiate and indycar version of Le Mans Garage 56. /2
@indycarpodcast Let’s say we great a category for “Special” entries. The idea would be to have cars powered by Alternative fuels (Fuel Cells, Batteries, etc.), or maybe for special needs drivers such as Robert Wickens. This is how it could work: /3
