@nicksteadman13@11kmrn I imagine it was the sister who was talking about it, hopefully back when the guy was still just a casual hookup and not a part of the family yet
@boomchakachaka3@rakalipal@anvyrd In an apartment, you rent your unit from the person/company that owns the entire building. In a condo, you own your individual unit.
@buttholemuseum@DEEP_RED_BELLS Most of the bars around me have a marked serving area where there are no stools, and the bartenders will explicitly tell you to go over there if you try to order over someone's shoulder who is sitting at the bar
@CTownEnjoyer@adamconover Yes, that's exactly the point that Adam is making. The "inevitable future" eventually came without the level of demands and bullying that are now being done with AI. If it's really the future, it's going to happen without people yelling at us and trying to force us to use it.
@CTownEnjoyer@adamconover I didn't say there was one person, there was an entire resistance movement of people who felt there was no need to be constantly accessible (and, in retrospect, they were correct), plus the fear of health problems from the "radiation". Everyone didn't immediately jump onboard
@CTownEnjoyer@adamconover Not really. I remember plenty of people who didn't see the point of being reachable by cellphone at any moment when there were still landlines and payphones everywhere
@JasperHinesIV@unhingedIibra@livingthroughJ Yea, and it's not like you're paying the participants. You're paying the labor and expenses for the venue, managing guest list and entry, setting up the space, supplies, refreshments, cleanup, etc. You could do this all yourself at your own home, but it requires your labor.
@tiff_arielle Also, what would happen if the relatively wealthy people start taking up all the lower priced homes that these people insist they should be living in...
@Nadie0699 @draggingortrump Right. If you can't afford to live in a neighborhood that meets very basic criteria, then you are not wealthy for your area
@secret_gains Too bad they aren't actually doing it for free in US schools and prisons. That would actually make a fun buddy comedy: two trans Europeans come to the US and try to get sent to prison so Kamala Harris will pay for surgeries.
