I walk at 5 AM. Every day. Same route.

Last month, my neighbor showed me the neighborhood app. There was a post about me.

"Suspicious man walking every morning before sunrise. Possibly armed."

It was an umbrella. It was raining.

The comments were divided. Half the neighborhood thought I was a threat. Half thought I was "probably fine." One woman said I had "a purposeful stride." I have never been so complimented.

I kept walking. Every morning. 5 AM.

Then, three weeks ago, a post: "THE 5AM GUY FOUND MY DOG."

I had found a dog. It was a beagle. Technically, it found me. I walked it home. It knew the way better than I did.

The app changed overnight. Now there are posts like "Good morning to the 5AM guy" and "The 5AM guy waved at my kids' bus."

Last Tuesday, someone left a cup of coffee on their porch with a sign: FOR THE 5AM GUY.

I do not stop on patrol. I stopped.

A doorbell camera caught me drinking it. The post has 412 likes.

Tomorrow, there will be coffee on three porches.

I will stop at all of them.

Then back to work he went with his head still ringing.

USTR Jamieson Greer tells the NYT Canada walked away from what he describes as the most preferential U.S. trade treatment in the world.

According to Greer, the offer included:

• Auto tariffs as low as 7%
• Lower steel and aluminum tariffs
• Elimination of the 10% lumber tariff

And now Canada faces a widening trade war.

The NYT says Carney’s office declined to comment.

If Greer’s account is wrong, Ottawa should correct the record.

If it’s right, Canadians deserve to know why Carney walked away.

On 5 September 2024, at Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a 15-year-old girl was attacked in a school hallway.

A classmate doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. Flames quickly spread over her head and body.

Teacher Sean Hayes, 33, saw what was happening. He told a colleague to call 911, then ran to the girl and told her to get on the ground. He tried to roll her to smother the flames, but her backpack got in the way. He patted at the fire with his hands and realized his own clothes were burning.

Hayes pulled off his shirt and used it to beat at the flames. He asked another teacher for a shirt and continued. When the school resource officer arrived and took over, Hayes grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the remaining puddles of flaming liquid on the floor.

The girl suffered burns over roughly 40 percent of her body. Hayes was burned on his face, neck, side, and hand. Both recovered.

In 2026, Hayes received the Carnegie Medal for his actions that day.

A teacher in a school hallway saw a student on fire and chose to put himself between her and the flames.

CArney just announced a major hydro-electric project in Quebec. Ottawa is set to invest $20 billion.

Albertans will be paying a huge chuck of that. Once built, the power from that project won't be included in Quebec's equalization determination formula.

Albertans will be paying twice. Once for the project, and again (many times) for the equalization.

Alberta has to include its oil when determining its fiscal capacity, but Quebec doesn't have to include its hydro power.
