Our study is out in Nature Communications! 🎉
We reveal the full sequence of SARS-CoV-2 spike-mediated membrane fusion & show how S2-targeting antibodies block it using cryoET in a near-native system.

Interestingly, upon interacting with the ACE2 receptor dimer, spikes cluster at membrane interfaces and, following S2' cleavage, transition concurrently to postfusion conformations—encircling the hemifusion and pre-fusion pores in a distinct conical arrangement.
Excited to share our study capturing complete fusion event snapshots of SARS-CoV-2 and its inhibition by the S2 antibody WS6 via in situ cryo-ET under near-native conditions🦠.
Big thanks to Jialu Xu, Juan Shen, and Peijun Zhang.
