Folks rushing to gun stores right now:
The virus doesn't care whether you own a gun or not. So what are you preparing for? Hobbesian chaos? C'mon. We're better than this.
BTW, a gun in the home = 3x risk of suicide and 2x risk of homicide.

Until all of us stand up and insist on holding public officials accountable for changing our gun laws, these tragedies will keep happening: https://t.co/reTnmcg3xo
New York's Red Flag Law goes into effect TODAY.
This is a big step forward for common sense gun safety, and it is time for Washington to follow NY’s lead.
My message to Pres. Trump and the Senate GOP is simple: Stop kowtowing to the NRA and enact a national Red Flag Law now.
Here is a recent update to the evidence on the effects of MO repealing handgun purchaser licensing. https://t.co/8G8hOHMoDc Another paper in pipieline uses alternative stat model. We consistently find more homicides + suicides linked to repeal.
Extreme Risk Protection Orders Intended to Prevent Mass Shootings | Annals of Internal Medicine | American College of Physicians - Timely and important data from Garen Wintemute showing use of an ERPO law to prevent mass shootings. https://t.co/nvMlR8cq5w
1) most deaths from guns are suicides & PTP prevents those; 2) 90% who survive suicide attempt die much later from other causes, 3) most assaults w/ guns result from arguments, not crime, 4) having been arrested doesn’t mean you deserve to be shot!
PTP laws might inconvenience but ask gun violence survivors how inconvenient it is to be shot, to lose your most cherished loved ones. Licensing/PTP laws save lives. A lot.
No one policy or program will prevent all gun violence or every mass shooting. But that doesn’t mean we do nothing. As we work to reduce gun violence, purchase licensing must be part of the conversation. @DanielWWebster1 @admccourt https://t.co/Rdg3SBjuI5
Every country has mentally ill. Every country has video games. Every country has people who don’t pray. Every country has racists. Only America has near-daily mass shootings. It’s the guns https://t.co/qNEdXv8bto
