In Bengal, judicial officers kept 33 lakh voters on the electoral rolls. However, the EC filed appeals against those decisions.

Sadhu asked who had filed those appeals on behalf of the EC. Neither Sadhu nor Joshi knew.

So clearly, the entire process of disenfranchisement was centrally coordinated and organized, with the effect of altering the electoral rolls and, consequently, the electoral mandate.

This is how the Supreme Court allowed theft of elections in our country.

These judges have much to answer, including the location of their spine. It is useless to have such judges who only delay crucial petitions that challenge the rot in our system. The stealing of the young generation’s right to vote for change has been aided, both intentionally and unintentionally by some Supreme Court judges.

Not my party, not my CM!

A rather irritating and common refrain on social media these days is - serves Bengal and Bengalis right for voting BJP to power!!

Bengal did not vote BJP to power! The Election Commission did. Bengal did not vote BJP to power. The banias did. Upper caste Hindus did. Affluent Bengalis did. But they were less in number than those who did not vote BJP. The EC, now amply proven, tilted the scale in BJP's favour.

So, Bengalis have a government most of them didn't want. So, we have a semi-literate CM caught on camera with his hand in the till. So, every day we wake up to news of a fresh assault on Bengali icons and traditions! So, every evening ends with a new example of cruelty to the poor and nastiness towards minorities!

But make no mistake. The upper class and typically affluent Bengali has been and staunchly remains a BJP supporter. I have had the misfortune of knowing a lot of these closet Sanatanis. Their life and logic are simple.

They don't care if Muslims are lynched, slums are bulldozed and Rabindranath is insulted. It does not concern them. They want good roads. Clean cities. Great entertainment zones. Quality housing. And terrific business opportunities. Their kids studied and now work abroad. So, go ahead and burn down Jadavpur University for all they care. "Those Naxal bastards need to be shot dead in any case".

Scratch an "educated middle-class Bengali" and you will find a Muslim-hater. Most of us did not suffer the consequences of the Partition or the migration during Bangladesh's war of independence. Yet, the hatred is well-drilled. "Those mollahs at Park Circus who never wear a helmet or follow traffic rules" is such a universal cliche and typifies the irrationality of our hatred.

While the BJP has done enough to quench the bloodthirst of the hate-filled Bengali in its 100 days in power - lynching, desecrating, demolishing, encountering, custody-killing...the list is long and impressive, what is most surprising is how the 'smart' Bengali has allowed himself/herself to be hoodwinked by the developmental lies sold by the BJP.

Are we so blinded by our greed that we cannot see the economic disaster that is India as a whole and our neighbouring states in particular? Bihar, UP, Assam are all disasters where BJP sold the same dreams of development and investments.

There is no compelling reason for Bengal to be any different. When you have left governance to a bunch of thugs, they are more likely to behave like thugs than visionaries!

As investments go, till date, an innerwear company has opened a new factory which they would have in any case since they are headquartered here. And now the Adanis and Ambanis are coming to claim their pound of flesh! When the A's invest, it is our money and their profit. Bengal doesn't benefit. Gujarat does.

What happens to people like us who didn't vote for the BJP? Well, the same as what will happen to people who voted for the BJP! All of us get screwed. That is the BJP's speciality. Sell hate to the people and the country to Adanis and Ambanis.

While we will be playing the hate game against non-veg food, JU students, sarodiya traditions, pavement dwellers, BJP would have sold the country to Big Business, that too at a handsome commission. And laughing their heads off at us for having been completely fooled by them.

The coming years will be a long and tiring fight against their hate agenda and diversionary tactics! It will also be the years when people start asking the right questions - where are the jobs, schools, investments, houses, hospitals, acche din that you promised? It is going to be a long night but still only a night. Caught in its rotational trap, this too shall pass!

एक्सपर्ट कहते हैं कि हो सकता है ये पार्टियां असल में स्वतंत्र राजनीतिक संगठन ना हों, इसके बजाय ये पार्टियां टैक्स चोरी, मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग, हवाला लेनदेन और दूसरी वित्तीय अनियमितताओं के लिए एक तरह से मोर्चे के तौर पर काम कर सकती हैं.

I met and spoke to a niche, logical group of young faculty and students who gave me hope that irrational narrratives, dogmatism and bandwagon fallacies will be questioned.

So does this Supreme Court judge want @MahuaMoitra to take bullets? What kind of motormouth persons have we appointed as judges? Is this the judicial temperament we expect of constitutional court judges? This is why we need to fix judicial accountability.

The statement is condemnation worthy. Especially when you know about the dire state of affairs in Bengal. If tomorrow anything happens to Ms. Moitra, this bench led by Justice Dipankar Datta will be responsible. He should be ashamed of his conduct. In any functional democracy, such judges would’ve been compelled to resign or be impeached!
