At 75 years old, when most people would choose comfort and rest, one man chooses service. ❤️🇮🇳
N. S. Rajappan has spent nearly a decade cleaning plastic waste from Kerala's beautiful Vembanad Lake.
His story is not remarkable because of what he does.
It is remarkable because of everything he has overcome to do it.
Rajappan was struck by polio when he was just five years old. Since then, everything below his knees has remained paralysed.
He cannot walk.
Yet every day, he rows a small boat across the lake using a single paddle, collecting plastic waste discarded by others.
From morning until evening, he patiently gathers bottles, bags, and other trash from the water.
For every kilogram of plastic he collects, he earns around ₹12.
It is not a fortune.
But he continues anyway.
Not because it makes him rich.
But because it helps keep the lake clean.
During the devastating Kerala floods of 2018, Rajappan lost his home completely.
For weeks, he lived inside his boat.
He did not complain.
He did not seek attention.
He simply carried on.
Today, he lives beside his sister's home, earns his own livelihood, and continues serving the environment with dignity and determination.
His story forces us to ask an important question:
What does love for one's country really look like?
Is it loud speeches?
Or is it quietly waking up every day and making your corner of the nation a little better than you found it?
Perhaps true patriotism is not always found in grand gestures.
Sometimes, it is found in a small boat, on a lake, where a 75-year-old man refuses to stop caring. 🇮🇳❤️

Forty years apart, two Indians found themselves in situations where every second mattered. 🇮🇳❤️
In 1986, Neerja Bhanot was serving as senior flight purser on Pan Am Flight 73 when armed hijackers seized the aircraft in Karachi.
She hid passengers’ passports, helped people escape when gunfire erupted and ultimately gave her life while protecting three children. 359 of the 379 people onboard survived.
Four decades later, in 2026, Capt. Smit Machchhar faced a different kind of emergency aboard a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. His co-pilot allegedly attacked him, leaving him seriously injured.
Yet Machchhar managed to open the cockpit door, enabling passengers and crew to intervene and overpower the attacker. Other crew members then helped bring the aircraft to a safe landing in Saudi Arabia.
All 174 passengers survived, including 27 children.
Different years. Different crises. Different circumstances.
But one instinct remained the same:
Protect the people behind you, even when you are fighting for your own safety.
A heartfelt salute to Neerja Bhanot and Capt. Smit Machchhar. 🇮🇳🫡

Some acts of courage last only a moment—but their stories continue to inspire generations long after the moment has passed.
Bravery may take different forms, but its impact can last forever. 🫡❤️

It began with racing cars built in a college club, where three friends first got their hands dirty.
Years later, that tinkering became Clean Electric, whose batteries have now covered 20 million kilometres across India's roads.

You may have already seen Bittu Tabahi cleaning the Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh.
Now, he has brought that same fight to Delhi-NCR.
On World Cleanup Day, Bittu and fellow volunteers spent 4.5 hours cleaning the Yamuna bank, pulling out 585 kg of waste.
Then, at Gurugram’s Khedki Daula, they removed another 2,435 kg.
But Bittu’s story goes beyond these numbers.
His river-cleaning journey began on Republic Day with the Ajnar River and a small group of friends. Much of the work eventually became a solo effort, funded from his own savings. He kept returning despite infections, severe skin irritation, inadequate safety gear and even encounters with snakes.
His work eventually caught the attention of Boyan Slat, founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, who offered him a job.
Yet Bittu says his aim was never personal credit. He wanted to inspire others to step forward.
And perhaps that is what makes this journey so powerful.
One river. Then another. Then another.
Until cleaning up stops being one person’s fight and becomes everyone’s responsibility.

Arun Khetarpal: A Life of 21 Years, A Legacy for Eternity 📷
Some courage refuses to fade with time. Some sacrifice grows louder with every passing year. Arun Khetarpal was only 21 when he proved that bravery is not measured in years lived, but in moments chosen.
On 16 December 1971, during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, destiny called at the Battle of Basantar. Pakistan’s elite 13 Lancers rolled forward with powerful Patton tanks, certain of breaking through. Facing them was India’s 17 Poona Horse—outgunned, outnumbered, but unshaken.
When enemy fire overwhelmed B Squadron, A Squadron moved in. Among them was a young officer inside a Centurion tank—calm, focused, and fearless. As the battlefield erupted in explosions and smoke, Arun Khetarpal fought with astonishing clarity, striking back again and again.
Then his tank was hit. Flames rose. The order came over the radio to pull back.
Arun answered with resolve that would echo through history:
“No, Sir. I will not leave my tank. My gun is still operational.”
That was not defiance—it was devotion.
Trapped inside a burning tank, Arun continued to fight, destroying four enemy tanks and halting the advance. In the final exchange, at close range, both tanks fired. The enemy survived. Arun did not. Gravely wounded, he laid down his life where he stood—unmoved, unbroken, undefeated in spirit.
Decades later, in 2001, war gave way to truth. Arun’s father, Brigadier Khetarpal, met Lieutenant Nasser—the officer who had faced his son that day, now a brigadier himself. With deep respect, Nasser said quietly:
“Your son stood firm like a rock. He alone turned the tide against us.”
When he learned Arun’s age—just 21—silence followed. Two soldiers, once enemies, were united by honour. A father embraced the man who had faced his son, proving that some bravery transcends borders.
For courage beyond measure, Arun Khetarpal was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
He did not merely fight in a war.
He defined what it means to stand one’s ground.
He showed that duty can be stronger than fear.
And at 21, he earned a place among the immortals.
📷 Salute to a hero whose courage still guards the nation.

@fhzadran True, brother. The people of Türkiye also will realise that their so-called government is making an unethical and foolish decision. Instead of developing Türkiye, their so-called government is playing with explosive balls in heated coal in the name of Islam.
