"the loss in rankings is not a penalty but rather it’s just a recognition that a section of a site is so vastly different that the reputation of the entire site doesn’t really apply for that particular topic"
They have done it multiple times!
Can't believe I have to say this again, but you shouldn't be hosting with your domain name registrar. Even though they love to "upsell" you on domain hosting packages.
You should use separate companies for domain registration, DNS, and web hosting—three different providers—for security reasons. If a hacker gains access to your website and all services are with one company, they can take control of everything.
By using different companies, a breach in one account won’t automatically compromise the others. If your website is hacked, your domain remains safe. If your domain is compromised, your website stays intact (as long as you have backups), allowing you to move it to another domain while recovering the original. If your hosting is affected, you can change DNS settings and restore your site on a new host.
As someone who runs a stolen domain recovery service, I’ve seen businesses—including e-commerce sites—lose everything simply because they relied on a single provider for all three services.
