Listened to @SuperSoulSunday yesterday, and @Oprah reflected on her experiences interviewing folks. She concluded one simple truth that all humans wish for: to be validated, seen and heard. All it can take is greeting someone with a smile when they enter the room. ❤️
At 4am this morning we heard shrieks from a woman in the apartment across us yelling and sobbing for an hour that she hated everything and didn’t want to live anymore. It was heartbreaking. Even though folks are on patios - please remember to be kind and compassionate. #Toronto
1/2: Just went through 3 rounds of interviews with a tech consulting company in #toronto that prides themselves on being leaders and educators in the space. 6/6 of the people I met with were white and 5/6 were men.
3/: And lastly, if you’re asking candidates to put hours into case study work or presentations, be kind and offer actionable feedback. Be human and give them a call about why it’s not a fit. These small efforts go a long way. #toronto#torontotech#jobseekers
2/2 Perhaps it was an availability issue, but as a POC, disappointed at the lack of representation. It has to get better, and if it is a work progress, recruiters should acknowledge this and be talking about what they’re doing to do better in building a diverse team #TechTO
Beautiful virtual meditation session tonight led by @mindfulnessmeg. In an odd turn of events, my broken foot has opened space to pause and reflect. The universe works in magical ways. Feeling grateful to @womenandcolor for making these sessions accessible to all ❤️.
The last few months have been unpredictable, heartbreaking and so much more. Taking time to focus on more healing today. These words from @GabbyBernstein are especially speaking loudly to me: “I step back and let the Universe lead the way”.
1/ Almost three weeks ago, a biker crashed into me while I was jogging on a shared bike lane in the Fort York area. The crash became three broken bones in my foot. My first thought was, I am angry and why aren’t there any rules to govern the usage of these lanes? @cityoftoronto
