@cfrich @DeeSTEM_Teach I sent out a note asking parents to please send in more pencils, if possible, for our classroom supply. 2 parents sent in giant boxes of pre-sharpened pencils and I almost cried. I donโt think non-educators understand the sheer joy of pre-sharpened pencil gifts. ๐
Our Simple Machines final project was to build a car that moved-and these all stars knocked it out of the park! Videos posted below. #STEM#scienceisfun@RCSDsch42@RCSDNYS
When the @Xerox scientists come in and teach a lesson, things always get exciting! We are so thankful for their partnership with our school! @RCSDNYS@RCSDsch42#science#electricity
Recess for the past month has been filled with paper airplanes flying across the room. Building, improving on them, holding competitions. Now they are attempting to make the biggest one possible. Student-led #STEM conversations during recess? I call that a #teacherwin. @RCSDsch42
@OlManFromZelda@JBobMagnificent@RochesterTA I love that he thinks heโs right when his comments only show a lack of reading comprehension. Iโm glad your room is warmer!! I had 100% attendance on zoom. Since returning in person, Iโm been missing 1/3 of my class every day.
@JBobMagnificent@OlManFromZelda@RochesterTA The district is all remote so as stated, remote from home or remote from a school building. The children are home on zoom either way. You are ridiculous. Thanks for the laugh. Again, read AND comprehend original tweet(s).
@OlManFromZelda@JBobMagnificent@RochesterTA The article cited does not address remote teaching from home vs school. Teachers all agree, remote learning is not as effective as in person learning, thanks for the pointless โresearch.โ Asking for heat doesnโt make someone a lazy dolt. WORK from home. Not stop working.
@donbartalo @CitizenMurphy There have been suburban districts that have had to cancel for days here and there. Not enough staff/bus drivers=school closure/remote. We canโt magically create adults to cover classes and drive buses. ๐ช
@meisenstadtsyr @CitizenMurphy They are using the 5 day in Monroe county. It only applies if you are not exhibiting symptoms after that 5 day period. And from what Iโm hearing *many* people with COVID right now are symptomatic longer than 5 days.
+ I think people out there think teachers want to be remote. We donโt. We want to be in our classrooms with our students. But we also want to be sure thereโs enough staff to BE in classrooms with students. My class understood that yesterday.* #schools
I had to tell my class we were going remote for 3 days because of lack of healthy staff and bus drivers. There were tears, exclamations, frustration. We talked about their feelings for almost an hour. Theyโre scared of remote school, theyโre sick of COVID. #education +
Kidsโ voices are important. Talk about whatโs happening with them. Help them feel heard. Remember learning isnโt always books, facts, figures. It is connecting, getting along, working as a team toward a goal. Feeling like youโre part of something. +
