A year ago, Kenyans were warned that SHA had been created simply to give this administration a new channel to loot. Today, the headlines have confirmed what many dismissed as bitter and alarmist noise.

KES 11 billion is already gone, and deep down we know the real figure is much higher. What hurts even more is that this money is being lost through a system built at a cost of KES 104 billion, yet NHIF was offering the same services with just KES 900 million. The key takeaway is that this government is focused on raising money to fund the next elections, not on delivering the promises made to Kenyans. Kenyans, we are on our own. Let us make better choices next year.
