Now every Labor MP in the region is publicly opposing it. Signing a petition with one hand while signing off approvals with the other. They can’t have it both ways - either Labor are with their communities and environment or they’re not. 2/2
VIC Labor’s waste incineration policy is a farce - now the environment minister who wrote it is campaigning against one in her own electorate. Meanwhile in Lara, turns out the govt pressured the EPA to speed up the approval process. 1/2 https://t.co/UgfzMQQ75u
We must protect reproductive rights in Victoria.
This week the Vic Greens will introduce a Private Members Bill to enshrine abortion services into the state's constitution.
This will make it harder for future governments to revoke this fundamental human right.
Reproductive rights shouldn't be left to the whims of whichever party happens to be in power.
This week, the Greens are calling for abortion access to be enshrined in Victoria's constitution. @s_mansfieldMP
We’re going backwards.
Transport emissions are rising, and it'll be our dirtiest sector by 2030.
Better walking, cycling & PT would reduce emissions and create more vibrant communities - and reduce the cost of living.
This investment is not just an option - it’s a necessity.
Labor says a 12 year old is too young to use social media but will still throw that same child in prison.
They’ve got no plan to actually enforce a social media ban, but we could raise the age of criminal responsibility now. #springst#auspol
VIC once led the way, being the first state to pass VAD laws. But we now lag behind. Our outdated laws have many ‘safeguards’ that have turned out to be restrictive barriers. Victorians deserve choice and dignity at the end of life, and too many are still being denied this.
Today we introduced a bill to parliament to make Victoria’s voluntary assisted dying laws more equitable and accessible. Despite VAD being legal, many people are being denied access or dying before they can get through the process.
Eg, VIC is one of the only states where health workers are banned from letting patients know VAD is an option. I had patients I think would have like to know, and I often wonder what difference it would have made if they knew they had choice. But I couldn’t tell them.
We can’t keep relying on property developers to fix the housing crisis.
That’s why @victoriangreens have announced our plan for a public builder: a not-for-profit building company, selling & renting homes at prices people can actually afford.
This is the sort of change we need.
As a start, we need free contraception, all publicly funded health services to provide abortion, and more health workers trained to provide sexual and reproductive health services in their local communities.
This report confirms once again that in Victoria, your postcode determines your access to abortion and contraception. We can do so much better. https://t.co/5gk19CPOBn
Councils have been calling for ‘inclusionary zoning’ that requires genuinely affordable housing to be built in these developments.
But Labor has been missing in action.
Labor must commit to 50% of these homes being public and affordable housing in these new activity zones.
The community has been crying out for Labor to rein in the massive profiteering of big property developers on the back of thousands of people suffering in housing stress.
The Greens welcome more housing that’s closer to the transport & services.
But announcing fast-tracking for wealthy developers without requiring them to build public & affordable housing is not a solution to the housing crisis - it’s a developers picnic.

Vic Labor have failed to implement many of the recommendations from the Mental Health Royal Commission, backflipped on promises to the sector and now mental health workers say the system is in a worse place than before the Royal Com.
This is not good enough.

Coal's on its last legs. Plants are even starting to shut down during the day because they can't compete with cheap solar & wind power.
That's why it's so ridiculous Vic Labor still has a secret deal to keep Aus' dirtiest plant, Loy Yang, alive until 2035 https://t.co/kckdRTRX5k
Healthcare costs are spiralling out of control.
No one should have to choose between buying groceries, paying their bills or going to the doctor.
That’s why the Greens have a bold plan that will improve the health of our community and bring down the cost of living.
Wish you didn’t have to fork out to see a doctor in a cost of living crisis?
The Greens have today announced our plan to ensure you can see a GP for free at a Local Healthcare Clinic.
Better yet, we’ll tax the mega-profits of corporations to pay for it.
