காவல்துறை மானியத்தில் மாண்புமிகு முதல்வர் அவர்கள் ஆற்றிய பதிலுரையின்போது, திமுக தலைவரும் மேனாள் முதல்வருமான தளபதி ஸ்டாலின் அவர்களைக் கேலி செய்யும் வகையில் அவரது உடல்மொழி அமைந்திருந்ததாக கடும் விமர்சனங்கள் எழுந்துள்ள நிலையில், முதல்வர் தரப்பில் 'அது உள்நோக்கம் கொண்டதல்ல' என்று விளக்கம் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. எனினும், இதுபோன்ற 'உடல்மொழிகள்' கண்ணியமான அணுகுமுறை இல்லை என்பதையும் மனித மாண்புகளுக்கு எதிரானது என்பதையும் விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சியின் சார்பில் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறோம்.

எந்தவொரு சூழலிலும் ஒருவரின் 'தன்மதிப்பைக்' குறைத்து மதிப்பிடுவதோ, காயப்படுத்துவதோ நாகரிகம் ஆகாது. தனிநபர் ஒருவரின் மீதான அரசியல் விமர்சனங்கள் என்பது வேறு; தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் ஒருவரின் தன்மதிப்பைக் காயப்படுத்தும் விமர்சனங்கள் என்பது வேறு. கல்வி, பொருளாதாரம், அதிகாரம் போன்ற வலிமையில்லாத எளிய மனிதரையும்கூட காயப்படுத்தும் அணுகுமுறை ஒருபோதும் ஏற்புடையதில்லை.

அகவையில் மூத்தோரை மதிப்பது மனித மாண்புகளில் மிகவும் உயர்ந்ததாகும். எனவே, மாண்பு நிறைந்த ஒரு மகத்தான பொறுப்பிலுள்ள முதலமைச்சர் இனிவரும் காலத்தில் தனது உடல்மொழியில் மிகுந்த கவனமுடன் இருத்தல் நலம் பயப்பதாகும்.

முதல்வரின் பதிலுரையையொட்டி அடுத்தநாள் திமுக தரப்பில் முதல்வரின் உரையில் சில பகுதிகளை அவை குறிப்பிலிருந்து நீக்க வேண்டுமென கோரிக்கை வைக்கப்பட்டது. அந்த விவாதத்தின் போது இடைமறித்து சட்டத்துறை அமைச்சர் அவர்கள் கூறிய கருத்து வரலாற்றுப் பிழையாகும்.

மிசா காலத்து அரசப்பயங்கரவாதம் எத்தகையது என்பது நாடறிந்த ஒன்றாகும். அந்தக் கொடிய ஒடுக்குமுறைக்குள்ளான திமுக தலைவர் குறித்து முற்றிலும் தவறான கருத்தினைப் பதிவு செய்தது கண்டனத்துக்குரியதாகும். மாண்புமிகு அமைச்சர் அதனை திரும்பப் பெறுவதாக அறிவிக்க வேண்டுமென வலியுறுத்துகிறோம்.

Shocked to hear @iparanthamen wanting to chain mentally ill people. I understand the anger against @CTR_Nirmalkumar but to say that he should be admitted to the mental hospital, and, if he doesn’t become better, he needs to be chained, is regressive and unbecoming of a progressive leader.
To imply that mentally ill need to be chained - in this day and age where the nation has even adopted Advance Directive - is wrong and needs correction.
All unfit people are not mentally ill. Some are just despicable human beings who prioritise votes and power over everything else.
By equating a repulsive person with the mentally ill, Paranthaman has perpetuated a stereotype and done a disservice to society.

When you look at Tamil Nadu politics, there’s a fascinating divide in how people treat different types of leaders, and it comes down to the difference between an idol on a palace and a leader living in a glass house.

Think about how celebrity politicians operate. When someone spends decades on the big screen, the public builds an emotional bond with an idealized cinematic version of them. It’s like buying a brand-new car straight from a luxury showroom: it looks flawless, nobody has ever seen it break down, and the manufacturer keeps it safely parked behind velvet ropes. Because of that pre-packaged idol status, figures like MGR, Jayalalithaa, and now Vijay enjoy a protective brand shield. They remain largely untouchable, and they also stay at a distance, tightly managing when and how the public gets to see them (MGR was an exception).

On the other hand, look at a long-standing political family like Karunanidhi’s. Generations of the family, from Kalaignar himself down to MK Stalin, Kanimozhi, and Udhayanidhi, have lived under a constant, relentless barrage of public scrutiny. Every personal choice, family decision, and political move is put under a microscope and subjected to intense critique.

But, I believe there’s a massive upside to living in that glass house for a democracy: a leader who is constantly under fire has nowhere to hide. Think of it like buying a heavily used, fully inspected work truck instead of that untouched showroom car. It might have dents, scratches, and a long service history that everyone argues about, but you know exactly how it runs, where it’s been tested, and what it’s capable of doing.

Because, these heavily scrutinized leaders can’t rely on a cinematic fantasy to protect them, they must show up. They have to stay accessible, keep their doors open, and answer to the public day in and day out.

At the end of the day, a healthy democracy isn't supposed to be a fan club; it's supposed to be an ongoing job interview.

I share this because whether it is @mkstalin, @KanimozhiDMK, or @Udhaystalin they operate under constant, inescapable light. I’d rather choose a leader who stands fully exposed in the public glare over an idol hidden behind a velvet rope.

Would you rather trust a cinematic fantasy you aren't allowed to test, or a tested workhorse whose every flaw is already out in the open?

கடந்த மூன்று நாட்களாக காவல்துறை மானியக் கோரிக்கை மீதான விவாதத்திற்கு பதிலுரை அளிக்க ஒத்திகை பார்த்தும், அந்த மானியக் கோரிக்கை தொடர்பாக முதலமைச்சர் பேசியது சொற்பமே. மற்றவை எல்லாம் காலம் காலமாகப் பரப்பப்பட்ட வதந்திகளையும், சமீபத்திய WhatsApp factory பொய்களையும் கலந்து, முதலமைச்சருக்கு ஒரு பிரதியைக் கொடுத்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றுதான் நினைக்கத் தோன்றுகிறது.

சட்டம்-ஒழுங்கு குறித்தும், குழந்தைகள் & பெண்களின் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்தும், பிற மக்கள் பிரச்சனைகள் குறித்தும் பேச வேண்டிய சபை, இன்று சர்க்கஸ் கூடாரமாக மாறியிருக்கிறது.
