My dad, Juan Pablo Guanipa, is a political prisoner of the Venezuelan regime. A father of five recently orphaned kids and a devout catholic who was kidnapped by the Maduro regime more than 7 months ago. Today, Maduro is in a prison cell facing American justice.

The remnants of the regime, headed by Delcy Rodriguez, must release him and all political prisoners immediately.

There’s no better way to transition from a dictatorship than to release ALL Maduro’s political prisoners.

As a family, the last few years have been extremely tough on us. Just a couple of years ago, my mother, Begoña, died after fighting against cancer for years.

My five siblings were left orphaned. They don't have a mom who wakes them up to go to school and tucks them in bed at night.

My dad was heartbroken. The love of his life was no longer with him. Yet, he found the strength to keep fighting for my country. He prayed constantly to the Virgin Mary to give him the strength to keep our family together and to guide him to fight for Venezuelan freedom.

And that’s what he did. He gave his all to fight for our freedom. For the freedom of Venezuela, for the freedom of his kids.

He toured the country to ensure that Edmundo Gonzalez was elected president on July 28 elections. And when we won, and the chavista regime started harassing and persecuting Venezuelans, he went off the grid, underground.

For many months, he stayed underground in clandestinity. We only got to see him via FaceTime.

Until the Maduro regime took him over in the middle of the night and put him in prison, ever since, he has been incomunicated. He doesn’t have the right of an attorney, and I only saw him once in a short 20 minutes visit.

They haven’t allowed him to go to mass over all this time.

Anyone else who faces what my dad is facing would have given up. But my dad isn't like everyone.

He’s doing what any good Christian and patriot would do: Face evil an its core for his country and family.

That’s why he needs to be free. My dad needs to be next to me and my brothers, not isolated in a prison cell.
