Waking up to the saddest news about Mallam Elrufai which has already ruined my day! 😭 😭

Today makes it more than 126 days since Mallam Elrufai,has been in detention 💔. He was brought to court today and for a moment, our hope rose. But the case was adjourned again till September 😭 Another date! More days added to months already lost 💔.

This is not justice 😡 No man should spend 126 days or more behind bars without fair trial, without conviction, without clarity. Whatever the allegations, due process must be followed. Locking someone up indefinitely while the wheels of justice move at a snail’s pace is unlawful and it diminishes all of us as a society.

My prayer today is for Mallam Elrufai that Allah Azza wa Jal grants him strength in this trying season, grants him speedy freedom and restores his peace of mind.

No family should have to endure this kind of prolonged uncertainty. Freedom is a right, not something to be begged for.

And to all of us who throw our weight behind politicians, let this be a lesson. Many of them are masters of “use and dump”. They will ride on your loyalty, your voice, your sacrifice… but when the tables turn, you are left to face the consequences alone especially when you speak for the bettermentof the country and it doesn't align with their paths.... This is a call for us to stand for principles and not personalities.

IT WAS NO MISTAKE POLITICAL OR OTHERWISE
Indeed Mallam @elrufai was warned, advised, cajoled and pleaded with not to return to Nigeria from Egypt.

He was even offered right of access to third countries but a clear conscience fears no accusation.

A warrior and a man of honor and integrity does not hide around like a cowardly fugitive in a foreign land.

So, just like he did in 2010, he voluntarily returned to the fatherland to squarely face his accusers and so far, the entire world has seen that it is persecution and lawfare being masqueraded as accountability.

Yes! They might think they are winning today and even celebrating, but he who laughs last laughs best.

They plan and God plans. What they fear the most might yet still befall them.
