Q: Gurudev, Many people ask for blessings but only a few will receive it. Why?

@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - The giver is anyway giving but the taker is not there - the sincerity is missing. One who gives blessings gives it freely but the one who receives it has to be sincere. Sincerity is the qualification to receive blessings. And everyone is free to be sincere at any point of time or space.

Q: Gurudev, Why do people choose to be sincere only sometimes?

@Gurudev Sri Sri - Because of the illusion that they are going to miss some mundane pleasure. Hankering after pleasure makes them insincere. When you are sincere you simply enjoy pleasure.

Poor people fight for food. Rich people share their food. Richer are those people who share power. Richer still are those who share fame. Richest are those who share themselves. Richness of a person is indicated by his ability to share and not by what he hoards. Godliness is enjoying sharing fame.

Question - Gurudev, What is sincerity? Can you please narrate a real life example?

@Gurudev Sri Sri - Sincerity is being in touch with your depth!

A journalist from Colombia asked me, "How come the FARC listened to you and agreed to ceasefire? Big powers such as America, Norway, failed to get them to declare ceasefire. What did you say?"

I said, "It is not what I say but what I am that made a difference!"

So, if you are sincere, people recognize that and that makes all the difference. It is not the strategy but sincerity that makes a difference because the world moves with energy, and it is this positive spiritual energy (of sincerity) that uplifts the other. When you have positive and loving energy in you, that brings a difference to the world. Do you see what I am saying?

It is not the strategy, but the sincerity that makes a difference. When you have positive and loving energy in you, that is what brings the change you are looking for.

Purity in heart, clarity in mind, sincerity in action. If you have these three things, you’re done! Then I tell you, nature will also come to your help in such amazing ways; God will come to our help. The above 3 qualities along with contentment is the formula for happiness in life.

When the New Year arrives, wish everyone with a sankalpa (intention) for peace and prosperity for all the people on the planet. Do more selfless service. Realise that our foremost priority is to check violence in the world, to free the world from domestic and societal violence. Make a resolution to do more good to society, help the people who are in need and bring solace to those who are suffering.

The spiritual dimension of life brings a great sense of belongingness, responsibility, compassion and caring for the whole world, for the whole humanity. The spiritual dimension in the truest form smashes the narrow boundaries of caste, creed, religion and nationality and gives one a broader awareness of life present everywhere!
